Experience one of Patagonia`s most breathtaking adventures with our excursion to Cerro Tronador and Ventisquero Negro Glacier . This full-day tour will take you to explore the highest peak in Nahuel Huapi National Park, a land where turquoise lakes, native forests, and ancient glaciers take center stage.
The tour begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in downtown Bariloche . From there, we`ll embark on a scenic journey south, skirting the shores of the region`s most beautiful lakes: Lake Gutiérrez and Lake Mascardi .
Leaving the asphalt behind, we`ll venture onto an adventurous gravel road that follows the course of the upper Manso River . Along the way, we`ll make strategic stops at the most iconic scenic viewpoints on the route:
Black Beach: A unique coastline on the shores of Lake Mascardi, famous for the dark color of its sands.
The Rapids: An ideal spot to contemplate the energy of the Patagonian waters (it has a rest stop and restrooms).
Heart Island Viewpoint: The most sought-after postcard view of Lake Mascardi, where you can photograph the famous heart-shaped island.
Around midday, we will arrive at Pampa Linda , a beautiful valley at the foot of the mountain. Here we will have a scheduled break for lunch, to relax and enjoy the local cuisine surrounded by a unique natural environment (restrooms are available).
In the afternoon, the bus will take us to the stunning Ventisquero Negro , an amazing hanging valley glacier that surprises with its dark color and the mud and ice floes floating in its lagoon. A work of art by nature that will leave you breathless.
To ensure safety and an excellent travel experience, the tour is adapted to the weather conditions of Patagonia:
☀️ Spring/Summer Season
With access now fully enabled, we add two unmissable attractions at the base of the hill:
Devil`s Throat: We will take an easy hike along a simple path that leads to a gigantic natural rock amphitheater, crowned by imposing meltwater waterfalls.
Sighting of the 3 Peaks: Crossing the bridge over the Lower Manso River, we can appreciate the three characteristic peaks of Cerro Tronador: the Argentinian Peak (3410 m) , the International Peak (3554 m) and the Chilean Peak (3474 m) .
❄️ Autumn/Winter Season
During the colder months, heavy snow and poor road conditions prevent safe vehicle access to the deepest part of the trail. For this reason, the route does not extend to the Devil`s Throat or offer direct views of the three peaks, ensuring a safe walk that complements the stunning winter landscapes of the rest of the National Park.
