Details of Day Tours

From the moment we pick you up at your hotel in Iquitos, an incredible adventure in the stunning Amazon rainforest begins. Our transportation takes us to the Bellavista Nanay port, a vibrant meeting point of the Amazon that warmly welcomes you. Here, we board our boat, ready to embark on a journey through one of the most breathtaking ecosystems on the planet.

We navigate along the Nanay River basin, a natural setting that gradually immerses us in the magic of the jungle. Soon, we witness an awe-inspiring phenomenon: the meeting of its waters with the mighty Amazon River. Throughout the journey, we will captivate you with fascinating stories about the history, culture, and biodiversity of the Amazon. And if the season allows, we may even spot pink dolphins.

Next, we will have an enriching encounter with the native Yagua tribe. Here, you will appreciate exquisite handmade crafts while learning about their way of life and their efforts to preserve the surrounding ecosystem.

Our adventure continues to the famous Monkey Island, a natural sanctuary where rescued monkeys of various species roam freely. You’ll have the unique opportunity to observe these playful Amazonian inhabitants up close, watch them interact among the trees, and gain insight into their behavior in their natural habitat.

Back on the boat, we set off to enjoy a delicious lunch at a lodge. As you savor traditional regional dishes, you can relax and admire the vastness of the river, where the water and sky seem to merge into a single breathtaking landscape.

The adventure doesn’t end there! We will engage in an exciting activity—piranha fishing. As we fish along the Amazon River, our guide will share interesting facts about this fascinating species that inhabits the Peruvian jungle.

As the afternoon progresses, we begin our return to Iquitos. Upon arriving in the city, we bid farewell with the certainty of having experienced an authentic adventure in one of the most incredible places on Earth.

We will conclude our journey at a central location, just one block from the Plaza de Armas.

The Monkey Island excursion includes transportation from your accommodation in Iquitos, the boat ride to the island, admission to the primate rescue center, and a guided tour. During the tour, you`ll have the opportunity to see various monkey species in their natural environment and learn about the center`s conservation and rehabilitation efforts. You`ll also enjoy the company of an expert guide who will provide detailed information about the Amazon region`s flora and fauna.
The Monkey Island excursion generally lasts approximately half a day. The entire experience, including transportation to and from the island, a visit to the rescue center, and free time to explore the surroundings, typically lasts between four and five hours. This duration allows for a full experience in the Amazon rainforest, providing enough time to appreciate the different aspects of the ecosystem and the diversity of primates the island hosts, as well as to listen to the explanations of the specialized guide.
Yes, visiting Monkey Island is safe for tourists. The tour is led by experienced guides who ensure all safety measures are followed throughout the experience. It is recommended to follow staff instructions and not feed the monkeys, as they can be unpredictable. Additionally, the center has protocols in place to protect both visitors and animals. Wear appropriate clothing for the jungle and use insect repellent for a more enjoyable and safe experience.
The best time to visit Monkey Island is during the dry season, which generally runs from May to October. During these months, conditions are more suitable for exploring the jungle environment without the frequent rains that characterize the wet season. Temperatures can be high, so it`s advisable to bring sunscreen, a hat, and lightweight, long-sleeved clothing. However, the Amazon region offers a unique experience year-round, with each season showcasing different aspects of the local flora and fauna.
To fully enjoy your Monkey Island excursion, it`s essential to wear comfortable, lightweight clothing, ideally long-sleeved to protect yourself from insects. Don`t forget insect repellent, sunscreen, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun. It`s recommended to bring a camera to capture unique moments of Amazonian biodiversity. It`s also advisable to bring water and light snacks. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear for walking on uneven and wet terrain, such as hiking boots.
