Details of Day Tours

The tour begins in the picturesque town of Antofagasta, where we will pick you up.

From there, we depart for Carachi Pampa, a vast salt desert that stretches as far as the eye can see. This salt flat is known for its surreal landscapes and absolute tranquility. Later, we will pass by the basaltic flows of the volcano, the Cerro de Colores (Cerro de Colores), and the saltpeter plain.

Our next stop is the Carachi Pampa Lagoon, a dreamlike place where the waters change color depending on the sunlight. Here, we can observe the Andean flamingo, a species that finds an ideal habitat in this lagoon.

We continue our journey to the Campo de Piedra Pómez (Pumice Field), a vast expanse of white, porous rock formations that seem to be from another planet. Here, we`ll take a walk through the sites so you can take some great postcard-perfect photos and explore this unique landscape.

Finally, we`ll travel a total of 63km along a sandy, gravel road to return to the town of Antofagasta de la Sierra. On the way back, you`ll also be able to capture some truly unique images from your vehicle.

Finally, we`ll drop you off at your accommodation in Antofagasta de la Sierra.

However, this destination is accessible year-round, and each season offers a unique experience in terms of colors and views.
Yes, the Pumice Field is a kid-friendly excursion, as long as proper precautions are taken. The terrain is safe for walking, but it`s important to supervise children at all times due to the rock formations, which can be slippery. It`s recommended to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and hats for sun protection. It`s also important to keep in mind that the transfer can be long, so it`s advisable to prepare snacks and entertainment for the little ones during the trip.
No special equipment is required for the Pumice Field hike, but comfortable, hiking-appropriate footwear is recommended, as the terrain is uneven. It`s also advisable to wear layered clothing to adjust to temperature fluctuations, a hat for sun protection, and sunglasses. Don`t forget to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and a camera or phone to capture the stunning views. Always check with the tour operator if you need to bring anything additional.
