Andalgalá is an oasis at the foot of the Sierra de Aconquija. It is a city located in the north-central part of the province of Catamarca, 248 km north of San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, the provincial capital.

It is an important agricultural and timber center, and is also famous for the production of regional sweets. In addition, Andalgalá is a very popular tourist destination, offering activities such as mining tourism, photographic safaris and adventure tourism.
