The best time to visit Paraty is during the months of April to October, when the weather is dry and temperatures are pleasant. During this period, you can enjoy the beaches, boat rides, and exploring the historic center without worrying about the heavy rains that usually occur in the summer months (December to March). In addition, July sees the famous Paraty International Literary Festival (FLIP), a cultural attraction worth witnessing.
In Paraty, you can`t miss a stroll through its charming historic center, with cobblestone streets and well-preserved colonial buildings. The nearby beaches and islands are also a must-see; we recommend a boat trip around Paraty Bay to explore places like Trindade Beach and Araujo Island. Also, visit the Casa da Cultura and take a hike through the Parque Nacional da Serra da Bocaina to enjoy nature and spectacular views.
Paraty is accessible primarily by road. If you are coming from Rio de Janeiro, the drive takes approximately 4 hours, and you can take the BR-101. From São Paulo, the drive is around 5 hours also on the BR-101. There is the option of arriving by bus, with regular services from both cities. Although Paraty does not have its own airport, the nearest airports are Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro and Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo.
Paraty offers a wide variety of accommodation options to suit all budgets and preferences. You can find everything from budget hostels and charming inns to boutique hotels and luxury guesthouses.
