The best time to visit Ushuaia depends on the activities you want to do. For summer tourism, from December to March, you enjoy warmer temperatures and longer days, ideal for trekking and sailing through the Beagle Channel. For winter tourism, from June to September, Ushuaia becomes a popular destination for skiing and snow sports at Cerro Castor.
The weather in Ushuaia is generally cold and windy, with a lot of change during the day. In winter, temperatures can drop to -10°C, while in summer, they rarely exceed 15°C. Due to its location in the far south of Argentina, the weather is unpredictable; it is important to bring clothing suitable for cold, wind and rain.
Ushuaia offers a wide variety of activities and tourist attractions. You can explore Tierra del Fuego National Park, sail the Beagle Channel, visit the Museo del Fin del Mundo and the Maritime Museum. Other popular activities include trekking on the Martial Glaciers, practicing winter sports on Cerro Castor, and taking tours on the Tren del Fin del Mundo.
The most convenient way to get to Ushuaia is by plane. Malvinas Argentinas International Airport receives daily flights from Buenos Aires and other major cities in Argentina. You can also get there by bus from nearby cities, but the trip is considerably longer. Additionally, there are cruise ships that stop in Ushuaia as part of their tours of Patagonia and on routes to Antarctica.
No special permits are required to visit Ushuaia if you are a tourist. However, it is advisable to have a valid passport if you are coming from abroad. Also, if you plan to do specific activities such as fishing or excursions in protected areas, you may need specific permits, which are usually easily obtained through local tour operators.
