Patagonia Lakes Fly & Drive Tour is a unmissable tour for all those who love nature , those who seek to know places outside the traditional circuits with the freedom to travel in your own car.

For 8 days this self-drive trip offers your own vehicle to move through the most impressive places in Northern Patagonia , National Parks, watching the high peaks of the Andes Mountains, blue and emerald green lakes and with the possibility of observing the diverse flora and fauna of the place. 

The tour by car begins in Bariloche . The most visited city in Patagonia offers countless activities by car, walking, horseback or sailing, Bariloche is suitable for any type of traveler. 

The second stop is El Bolsón , known for its handicrafts fair and for being the gateway to the Lago Puelo National Park. 

Our last stop is the  Los Alerces National Park. Declared Natural Heritage by UNESCO it is the ideal place to practice trekking and enjoy nature. 

This trip includes rental of car for 8 days   and, in addition, you will have the opportunity to choose between three types of accommodation: Glamping/Domes, Luxury and Classic.

Details of Travel Packages

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO BARILOCHE AND CIRCUITO CHICO

Arrival at Bariloche airport where you can pick up the car from rental.
From there, go to your accommodation to check in and see your room.

If your flight Arrive in the morning, our recommendation for the afternoon is to take the renowned Circuito Chico, a half-day tour ideal to do by car, which will give you a first glimpse of the wonders of Bariloche, the Andes Mountains and the lakes. that surround the city. 

Recommended circuit: Circuito Chico. This is a 60 km trip from the center of Bariloche crossing Bustillo Avenue to Puerto Pañuelo . Completely paved, the circuit plunges into a wooded area after passing the port. 
The first stop is the Llao Llao Municipal Forest which has a path to enjoy on foot to the shore of Moreno Lake . A few meters further on, returning to the route, on the right hand side you can reach Nahuel Huapi Lake on Villa Taful beach and after a few more kilometers, there is the mysterious Escondido Lake, which is reached after walking a short trail. When you arrive at the Panoramic Point you can see the best-known postcard of the city.

This route also allows you to climb Cerro Campanario (optional) through chairlifts that lead to the summit, where you can reach incredible views.

Then the route continues to the area where the Llao Hotel is located -Llao and very close is the San Eduardo Chapel, and Puerto Pañuelo , starting point for lake excursions to Victoria Island, Arrayanes Forest and Puerto Blest.

We go through the area of Bahía López, where the rocky walls of the López and Capilla hills are imposed. An obligatory stop is the Panoramic Point from where you can see the privileged image of the Llao Llao peninsula and the lakes that surround it.

DAY 2: FREE DAY IN BARILOCHE

This day you will have free to rest or do any of the various tours that this area of Patagonia offers. 

Our recommendation is to visit Lake Gutiérrez, located only 16 km from the center.
A tour that can be done along Bustillo Avenue enjoying the landscape of the Lake Nahuel Huapi and then take Provincial Route 82 towards Villa Los Coihues. After passing the metal bridge, the shoreline of Lake Gutiérrez is imposed, which in summer has warmer waters than others in the area.
By car you can get to the Lago Gutiérrez campsite where a low trail opens. difficulty –ideal for going with children– that reaches the mythical Cascada de los Duendes, a magical place with a sound with a calming effect. 

Once at the lake, you can do ideal activities for any type of traveler.

Night in Bariloche

DAY 3: BARILOCHE - EL BOLSÓN 

We recommend leaving early in the morning to enjoy the rest of the day. 
El Bolsón is located 121 KM south of Bariloche by route 40 and like all roads in North Patagonia, this route offers incredible views, becoming an attraction in itself. 
The first kilometers are made through the shores of the Gutiérrez, Mascardi and Guillelmo lakes , until crossing the bridge over the Villegas river. This beautiful stretch of the road crosses extensive coniferous plantations.
About halfway there is El Foyel, a small town in the El Manso commune. Continuing the journey, a few kilometers later, there is the community of Las Guaitecas, of Mapuche descent, which offers a great variety of handicrafts on weekends. 
Finally, after 35 KM, you will arrive at El Bolsón. 

Arriving around noon and after checking In your hotel, you can enjoy the afternoon visiting the Artisan Fair located in the Pagano square , right in the center or driving to the viewpoint of the Azul River, the Mallín Ahogado valley and the viewpoint of the Cerrito Amigo.

DAY 4: FREE DAY - OPTIONAL VISIT PUELO LAKE NATIONAL PARK

You will have the day off to do any of the various activities that this area of the Andes offers. 

Our recommendation is to visit the Lago Puelo National Park , created to protect the Rivers and Lago Puelo, a beautiful mirror of water, which empties into the Pacific through the river of the same name. In its surroundings there is a valley with a particular microclimate , low in height, no more than 200 meters above sea level, a rarity within the Andean National Parks, which allows the development of varieties of flora and native fauna of this area. 

Here you can hire various activities (not included): boat or kayak navigation, horseback riding, walks by 4x4
  On the shores of the lake you can find a recreational area to rest and even get into the water in summer. 

In addition, the park offers different trekking trails for all ages and levels:
- Pitranto grande: (Low Difficulty/45 minutes)
Immersed in the forest of pitras and myrtle. You can see birds such as the witch heron,  Patagonian Thrush, Chimango, Araucana pigeon, Chucao among others.

- Forest of Shadows: (Low Difficulty/30 minutes)
Walk through a flooded forest through walkways where the main species is the pitra, you can also see different species of birds. 

- Botanical Garden: (Low Difficulty/between 60 and 90 minutes)
It is a sector of old farms where you can visit a forest made up of native species such as myrtles, coihues and old avenues, oaks and maples.

- Trail and viewpoint of the lake: (Medium difficulty)
En a mountain path that goes up to a rock 130 meters above Lake Puelo where the viewpoint is located that offers a panoramic view of the magnificent environment formed by Lake Puelo, the Currumahuida hills, Cuevas, Tres Picos and the Andes Mountains. The visit time depends on the physical conditions of the visitor due to the effort involved in the climb.

- El Faldeo- El Chucao Circuit: (Medium Difficulty/Alta)
The circuit is a route that begins on the path to the Lake viewpoint, you can take the path and climb the slope of the Currumahuida hill and then descend to the limit from the Park and return to the starting point along the El Chucao trail, the entire route crosses the mixed cypress and coihue forest. The highest point of the trail is the Maninga stream which must be crossed to continue advancing.  The total route is 3800 meters approx.

DAY 5: EL BOLSÓN - LOS ALERCES NATIONAL PARK/TREVELIN

After breakfast and check out at the hotel, you will start the road to Los Alerces National Park. The 190 km to the south along Route 40 invite you to make several stops.

After the first 40 KM, from the top, you can descend to the Epuyén valley   to visit its lake and the charming bay of Puerto Bonito, in front of the Pirque hill, where the views of the environment are paradisiacal (7 km from the route).

In El Retamo you have to take route 71 towards Cholila, a place where you will arrive after 40 KM.
There it will surely be done lunchtime and Cholila always promises a good barbecue. The locals say they offer "the best meat in the world" for the quality of their animals and the pastures of their valleys. In the center of town there are grills always ready to demonstrate it.

It is time to resume the walk towards Villa Lago Rivadavia (the way begins to be dirt, it is in good condition), with its postcard of lodges on the banks of the Carileufu River and its meadows full of grazing cows and horses.

30 KM further on you will arrive at Lake Futalaufquen where you begin to border the Los Alerces National Park for the next 50 KM , until you reach the chosen accommodation nbsp ;

DAY 6: LOS ALERCES NATIONAL PARK 

We recommend taking advantage of the full day to visit Los Alerces National Park.
As it contains areas of exceptional natural beauty and aesthetic importance, and h Representative and important natural habitats for the conservation of biodiversity, the Park has been declared part of the list of Natural World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. 

The park offers countless trekking trails for all levels and ages

DAY 7: LOS ALERCES/TREVELIN - BARILOCHE

The return to Bariloche is done by the same way out. 
The 285 km trip takes just over 4 hours, but we recommend leaving early in the morning and what for sure Amente you will make stops to eat and to visit the viewpoints of the lakes. 

Arrival in Bariloche and check in at the hotel.

DAY 8: DEPARTURE

After breakfast and from the check out at your hotel, you will have the rest of the day free until the time of your return flight, when you must return your vehicle to the Bariloche airport.
