Riobamba is a city located in the Andean highlands of Ecuador to 3 hours and a half from Quito bu car.

The city is known locally as the "Sultan of the Andes" and sits in a valley surrounded snowcapped mountains.

Riobamba means: "the flechero, the chosen one, the anointed one." It was a resting place for a very old population "The Puruhaes indigenous community".
