A quiet old-town base where Barcelona’s best sights are an easy walk away

Bcngotic 22

We stayed at Bcngotic 22 for our anniversary and loved its location. From 6 Carrer de l’Argenteria, we could walk to Santa Maria del Mar, the Gothic Quarter, the market, and the waterfront without taking taxis. Although it’s right in the middle of everything, our room was wonderfully quiet, with a peaceful inner courtyard and sturdy wooden shutters. The complimentary bottle of cava waiting for us was a lovely touch. It made a calm, comfortable base for exploring Barcelona at our own pace.

Staying at Manaira Hostel was a great call for our family trip. The price-to-quality balance is hard to beat, especially in the low season. Our room was spotless, with fresh-smelling sheets, a really comfortable mattress, and a quiet air conditioner that worked perfectly. I also appreciated the neatly tiled bathroom and strong shower. Friendly, practical, and cozy without overcharging.

Porto Beach Hospedagens

Traveling with a teenager can turn breakfast into a negotiation, but Porto Beach Hospedagens made everything easy. The staff greeted us by name, remembered my daughter’s preference for extra chocolate at breakfast, and even lent us an umbrella when a quick shower appeared. Our room on Rua Dolce Vita had a lovely view toward the palms and ocean; we watched fishing boats slide past while sipping coffee from the balcony. Clean, relaxed, and genuinely warm—exactly what we needed after sunny Porto de Galinhas days.

Departamentos Ebenezer

After a long day exploring Villa Gesell, returning to Departamentos Ebenezer felt wonderfully easy. Our room was spotless, the bed comfortable, and the little kitchenette surprisingly tidy. We walked everywhere—beach, cafés, and the supermarket on the corner. The quiet street and hot shower won over these two happy retirees.

Hostal Cal Siles

After a day exploring Barcelona, we loved returning to Hostal Cal Siles. The pool was small but peaceful, with sunny loungers and a shaded patio where we played cards over cold drinks. Our room overlooked the courtyard and distant hills; at sunset, the view caught orange light on the rooftops. The shared lounge had mismatched sofas and a little bookshelf, creating a relaxed, homey feel. We slept well and appreciated the friendly atmosphere.

Kabul Party Hostel

After our family’s first international trip, we were pleasantly surprised by Kabul’s tidy, comfortable rooms. Our bunk area had crisp sheets, sturdy lockers, and a small reading light. The rooftop pool was compact but refreshing, while cushioned common-room benches and the little chess table made relaxing easy. Plaça Reial’s buzz was right outside.
