Highlights
Route 40 connects some of the most beautiful and famous regions of the country in the Patagonia area, passing through the states of Rio Negro and Santa Cruz. 

From the city of San Carlos de Bariloche, home of the Nahuel Huapi National Park and the Cerro Catedral, begins our journey through the world famous route, which will leads us to the villages of Perito Moreno and Los Antiguos, depending on the option chosen. Later, we will arrive at El Chalten, National Capital of Trekking and our previous stop to the most recognized city of our trip: El Calafate, home of the Glacier National Park.

Relax and enjoy the spectacular natural scenery with our circuit: ROUTE 40 - BARILOCHE / EL CHALTEN / El Calafate, certainly a once in a lifetime experience!

Details of Ruta 40 - Bariloche / El Chalten / El Calafate

FIRST SECTION
From Bariloche to Perito Moreno or Los Antiguos

* Departs on ODD NUMBER DAYS at 07.45 am.
* Starting point: Andino Club. Address: 20 February # 30

We start from the city of San Carlos de Bariloche, a beautiful town that is located on the shores of the Lake Nahuel Huapi and is known for its alpine-style buildings. It will also be the begining of our adventure through the Route 40, to travel up to the town of Perito Moreno or Los Antiguos, arriving at approximately 07 pm on the same day.

Los Antiguos is a small town, characterized by its rivers, lakes and the stunnign snowy peaks of the Cordillera de Los Andes. It is also recognized as the National Capital of the Cherry. Meanwhile, Perito Moreno is surrounded by cattle ranches and farms that produce fine fruits and vegetables, and among the main attractions we can mention the wildlife watching in Laguna Park, the landscape of the Andes and the paleolithic art in Cueva de las Manos

SECOND SECTION
From ancient or Perito Moreno El Chalten

* Departs daily at 08 pm from Los Antiguos or at 09 pm from Perito Moreno
* Starting point: LOS ANTIGUOS Bus Station. Address: Tehuelches # 157 shop 6 // PERITO MORENO: Belgrano Hotel. Address: San Martin #1001

Once in the chosen town you have the option to take the next bus or stay overnight on your own and take the next day bus. This way you will get to explore these beautiful places and make the most of your time there.

After taking the bus, we will get back on the road, arriving to El Chalten at 08 am the next day.

THIRD SECTION
From El Chalten to El Calafate

* Departs daily at 07:30 am - 01 pm - 06 pm
* Starting point: Bus Station. Address Perito Moreno #0 Bol. 6

The final part of our roadtrip begins in El Chalten, a charming community that is characterized by its cultural diversity and natural conditions, ideal for nature and adventure lovers. It was named National Capital of Trekking, due to the imposing hills that surround it, as the Fitz Roy, the Poincenot and the Cerro Torre, where trekking can be performed. If you take the 06 pm bus you can enjoy a day at El Chalten before traveling to El Calafate.

This last part lasts 3 hrs and ends at the bus terminal of El Calafate

Great and very original way to travel around the south of Argentina: going down Route 40 (ruta 40) like in the road movies! Many awesome places to visit. Had a great time there!
