During these months, you`ll find clear skies and less chance of rain, which is ideal for exploring archaeological sites like Machu Picchu and hiking. Yes, Cusco is located at an altitude of approximately 3,400 meters above sea level, so it is common to experience altitude sickness or `soroche`. It is recommended to spend the first few days in the city to acclimatize, hydrate well, and avoid intense physical activities. Cusco is generally safe for tourists, but as with any tourist destination, it`s important to take basic precautions.
