During these months, the weather is more stable and there is less chance of rain, which is ideal for exploring the city and doing outdoor activities. In Quito, you cannot miss the Historic Center, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the City Museum, the Basílica del Voto Nacional, and the Quito Cable Car, which offers spectacular views of the city and its surroundings. It is also essential to visit the Mitad del Mundo, where you can stand at the exact point where the northern and southern hemispheres divide.
Quito has a mild climate, but it can vary throughout the day. It is advisable to wear layered clothing: a light t-shirt for the day, a sweater or jacket for the evening and night, and a rain jacket in case it rains. Comfortable shoes are essential for walking and exploring the city. Don`t forget a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun, which can be intense due to the altitude.
Quito is a generally safe city for tourists, but as with any destination, it is important to take certain precautions. Keep an eye on your belongings, especially in crowded areas such as markets and transport stations. Avoid walking alone at night in poorly lit places. Use safe taxis or shuttle services recommended by your hotel and follow the recommendations of local authorities.
In Quito, you can`t miss out on trying typical Ecuadorian food. Some recommended dishes are `locro de papa`, a creamy potato soup with cheese and avocado, `ceviche`, especially the shrimp one, and `empanadas de viento`, which are fried and filled with cheese. Also, try `yaguarlocro`, a soup with lamb offal and blood. For dessert, enjoy `helados de paila`, hand-made with fresh fruit.

The views of the volcano and surrounding Andes were absolutely incredible, especially when the clouds cleared. Absolutely loved this Quito-at-night outing with Tangol. The panoramic bus spun us past the glowing skyline, then we hopped off to wander the Historic Center—Plaza Grande, San Francisco, and the basilica area looked unreal under the lights. Our guide mixed history with fun tips and kept the group feeling super safe. Plenty of photo stops and just the right pace to soak it in (and grab a quick canelazo). If you’re new in town, this is the perfect first-evening orientation.
