San Martín de los Andes is characterized by having the most beautiful beaches in Neuquén, it is one of the destinations favorites for those seeking tranquility, nature and crystal clear waters.


The beaches are located within the Lanín National Park, bordering Lake Lacar. This lake is of  glacial origin  and is an ancient fjord, which is why it  is surrounded by mountains with extensive cliffs. The water is quite cold, but on hot summer days no one wants to miss out on taking a dip and sunbathing on the  fine stone beaches.


You can also fish, camp, have picnics, walk along the banks   o have a few mates while enjoying beautiful sunsets overlooking the forests and the blue lake.

Yuco









It is known as “the Patagonian Caribbean”, for its crystal clear waters and emerald green. Yuco beach is a hidden paradise about 30 kilometers from San Martín de los Andes. It is  a beautiful and  isolated peninsula , framed in a  reddish landscape  given by the myrtles.


The small coastal backwaters that make up the beach are the ideal places to relax and enjoy peace, nature and the magnificent surroundings.


This spa has nbsp ; small beaches and pools. In addition, there is a  free entry campsite and the national park rangers section. Fishing is also allowed. Not so the practice of motor boating sports.


And uco is located  30 kilometers from the city  and is accessed by the Provincial Route N ° 48  that leads to the border with Chile.

 



Catritre






It is the  spa closest to the city  (6 kilometers) , located on the left bank of Lake Lácar. It is easy to access either  by car, public transport (lines 1C, 1D, 2 and 5A), bicycle or walking. You can also get there by kayak paddling from the waterfront.


It is a wide and splendid bay surrounded by a lush forest of species such as pellín oak, patagua and cypress.  It contains an area of campsites and spas, a restaurant and options for practicing  water sports such as kayaking and canoeing.


The area is located within the Lanín National Park, and the sandy beach is surrounded by hills covered with forests and  to the west dominates the vertical wall of Cerro Abanico.


From there you can t It has a spectacular view of the north coast of the water mirror, with the Bandurrias hill, the Trumpul in front and all the slopes of the Quilanlahue range covered with dense forests.

 



Hua Hum








Its name means "humid and rainy place" or "Hollow in the sky" in Ma language puche. This beach allows you to enter the very heart of the Andean-Patagonian forest.


At the end of Lake Nonthué, meters from the source of the Hua Hum River, the extensive beach  with a gentle slope, where the lake excursions that depart daily from the San Martín de los Andes dock also disembark.  The beaches of Hua Hum   are covered with small stones, it is ideal to do picnics and enjoy a great view of the lake.


 

Next to the Hua Hum dock, there is a hostel with confectionery, it is a very pleasant place on the beach, where you can eat regional dishes or end the day with a tea with a delicious portion of chocolate cake with red berries.


In the area near the beach you will also be able to find other walks and activities such as sport fishing, visits to the waterfalls: Chachín, Pucará and the crossing to Chile through its passage international.


To get to the beaches of Hua Hum you have to  go by car  50 kilometers from the city, accessed through the route Provincial 48 (gravel road) to the Hua Hum international pass , or also by lake through the Lácar and Nonthue lakes (departures from the San Martín de los Andes dock).

 

 


Quila Quina 






Just 17 kilometers from San Martín de los Andes, is La Villa Quila Quina, where this  beach is located that stands out for being the "beach without wind", it has a picturesque pier with boats and a bay, where you can also hire community guides to take a tour of the area and listen to the stories of the place.


It can be accessed both by land from the Route of the Seven Lakes (route 40 and route 108 from the center of the city are 18 kilometers) or by hiring the boats that leave from the waterfront and they cross Lake Lácar.


The beaches are made of  fine sand surrounded by oak, ñires, maitenes and radales forests.   In the place you can rent equipment to carry out all kinds of nautical activities, like water bikes, kayaks and boat rides. In addition, it has a restaurant and craft stalls belonging to the Curruhuinca Community.


You will also be able to enjoy two natural viewpoints with panoramic views of the entire Quila Quina village, its beaches, the pier, the Grande Creek and the unique nature that surrounds it.

 



Pretty





It is located  12 kilometers from the center of San Martín ,  many arrive on foot, others by bicycle and there are even those who approach it  rowing. The water is crystal clear  and in sections it acquires a turquoise tone and in other variants of green.  You will also notice that there are  temperature changes in the lake with depths of up to 20 meters.


Fundamental fact for this beach is that  there are no lifeguards , so you have to be careful when they get in.


Playa Bonita is located on Lake Lolog and is accessed by provincial route 62 (it is gravel) from the center of the city.

 

 


La Islita







It is small,  has fine sand and is surrounded by rocks , it is reached by a  path of 600 meters between the trees. To access this trail (rent a car now )  or on foot for 10 kilometers (from the center) along the Bandurrias viewpoint route to the beach signs. Others  swim across from Bonita beach, they are about 150 meters and the maximum depth is about two meters.

 

In the middle  there is a  organized  camping  that manages the  Mapuche community  Curruhuinca, which in addition to the camping sectors has stoves, benches, tables, grills, grocery stores and bathrooms with service from 8 am to 12 pm . Among the fast foods they offer are sandwiches, pizzas and fried cakes (made by the women of the community) that are all the rage in the afternoons, at the time of the round of mates and the talks.
