In the neighbourhoods of Belgrano, Caballito, Palermo, Recoleta, Núñez and Acassuso you will find the most important and fun parks for practicing skating, longboarding, roller-skating and BMX. It is very common in the afternoons to see adults and children enjoying their boards in these multi-use circuits that were recently renovated with special designs. In addition, these tracks were made safer to avoid a large number of accidents.

Houssay Skatepark (Skatepark Houssay)

Renovated in 2015, you will find the Houssay Plaza just in front of the Faculty of Medicine building in Recoleta. By the afternoon this place is very crowded by students who take the opportunity to rest between their classes here. The track is quite small but occupies part of the street. It is worth noting that bicycles are not permitted on the inside of the skatepark.

If you enjoy football and basketballs, you will find pitches beside the park. Arriving at the park is simple by the closeness of the subte lines B, D and H. You will also find the main bus lines that run on Avenues Santa Fe, Córdoba, Pueyrredón and Callao.

Centenary Park (Parque Centenario)

The centenary park is an interesting park that is ideal for beginners and the more experienced to practice the sports whilst enjoying being in the heart of the city’s greenery. The track has railings, stairs and ramps that allow you to have a good session. This is a 12-hectare parks located in the neighbourhood of Villa Crespo. The track is small in relation to the rest in the city, but you are permitted to skate on the internal streets.

Just a few meters from the skating area, you will find an amphitheatre, a lake, the Argentine Museum of Natural Sciences and the observatory of the Friends of Astronomy Association. It is ideal to skate and longboard in the centenary park from Monday to Friday because there are fewer people walking. During the weekends on the outer path, the famous fair of books and magazines takes place, in addition to the several free events and activities that take place. Many residents attend from the outer neighbourhoods and skateboarding is not as easy during this time.

Haití Skatepark Plaza (Skatepark Plaza Haití)

It was opened in April 2015. This is one of the smallest tracks in the city, but it is one of the most attractive because of its proximity to the forests of Palermo. Ideal for continuing the day with a walk. This park has a variety of interesting obstacles, it has quarter-pipes and rails. It is a good circuit for beginners and the more experienced. It is free and open 24 hours a day.

The park has mobile stands surrounding where you can buy a snack after some demanding sessions. Also close is Avenue Santa Fe, where there is a good variety of local places to have lunch, dinner or just something cold to drink. If you want to make your day more interesting, another option is to take part in the tour of Palermo on an electric skateboard. This tour is an outing through the green lung of the city, exploring its lush forests and lakes. The tour goes through the neighbourhoods of Palermo, Nuñez and Belgrano and a guide will tell you in an interesting way every detail of history and you will take incredible photos.

Vans Skatepark (Vans Skatepark)

This is the most modern and new park in the city and it is located in the Buenos Aires velodrome in the heart of Palermo. It was the first to have a bowl/superpark with a vertical of 90° in all of Buenos Aires. In turn, the size makes it very attractive for national and international events, which usually take place once a month.

The track is free and open to the public from 10 in the morning to 8 at night. It has different obstacles for skating, longboarding and BMXing. If you want to continue your day riding, a few kilometres away is El Paseo de la Infanta, where a new gastronomic strip has been constructed where you can sit and relax over some food and drink.

Costanera Norte Pachapark

The locals call this park “Pacha” because of the nightclub that stood here previously. The Costanera is definitely one of the most pleasant places to skate and also longboard, it has the first track that opened in Argentina exclusively for this purpose.

It is located in a park of more than 7 hectares in Palermo, with a large grove bordering the river. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. During the weekend families arrive to relax and observe the skaters.

The use of this space is free and there are several facilities: a track and small ramps perfect for beginners and the most experienced, the 50-meter diameter snakebowl, three large ramps and even slacklines. The Costanera also offers different places to eat something quick. One block away you can try the famous choripan or the bondiola sandwiches from the restaurant on the pier.

The Americas Plaza (Plaza Paseo de las Américas)

Located in the Nùñez neighbourhood, this park is also known as the Skate Plaza de Converse. It has a skating rink that was refurbished a few years ago. It is located on avenues Figueroa Alcorta and Juramento. It was the first professional skate park in the city.

There are more than 1100 square metres of floor perfect for skating and some obstacles are ideal for playing on the rollers. The construction of this track was based more on the need for “street details”, imitating the commonly used places such as public space, beaches, steps and railings. This place is also ideal for skateboarders but also for roller-skating, since there are areas shared by all.

In addition, the plaza has a lane on the side of Avenue Figueroa Alcorta to continue skating. This avenue together with others nearby such as Libertador, Cabildo and Lugones facilitate the arrival of many youngsters from across the city. They come to this area by car, bus, subte and train so that they can practice, have fun and compete. At the weekends sport events are often organised.

Skatepark Tecnópolis

With more than 2400m2 of cement this is the largest and most complete in Buenos Aires. Since it opened in 2011, the facilities were gradually expanded and extended. In the park there are two areas, one smaller for beginners and various areas to start young skateboarders. The more advanced can enjoy the snakebowl or the San Francisco ramp and the street space.

It is not allowed to ride a bicycle within the skate park. Cyclocross has a specially reserved area in el Parque del Movimiento. The interesting thing about Tecnópolis is that it is a very large venue, where you will be able to use all of these tracks for free and stroll around the entertainment points. All year round and especially from November, Tecnópolis becomes a mega-show of science, technology, industry and art.

Peru Beach Skatepark (Skatepark Perú Beach)

Located in the north zone of Buenos Aires in the Acassuso neighbourhood. It is perfect for visiting during the summer days because of its proximity to the river and green space to enjoy good music, the best sunsets, and exquisite food prepared in the moment by a Parador. There is a wooden track for beginners and the experienced, it is small but has the space to have fun.

In the same area, classes are available for children and young people who want to learn the tricks of skating. It also has a store beside it where you can buy technical elements, clothing and all that you need for your session. As for getting there, it is very accessible by car and has parking space. But it is possible to access with the Mitre train line and several buses which run on Avenues Libertador and Santa Fe.

We recommend that for anyone who wants to learn more about the north zone of Buenos Aires, take part in the bike tour available.
