C was in 1982 and in the Czech town of Strakonice a huge concrete replica of the statues of Isla Easter wobbled simulating a walk thanks to the precise thrusts of 17 people .
< br>
The show was not recreational, but scientific: this explained why in the ethnic group of the Rapanui people said that these heads could walk, and also how was that its builders managed to move them from one place to another.

But the amazement the Czechs experienced was not remotely the same that the first western navigators who came to the island of Rapa Nui, today called Easter Island, felt when they saw the almost one thousand anthropomorphic sculptures adorning the space in every possible corner.
When the Dutchman Jakob Roggeveen discovered it in 1722, the island was an almost desolate place inhabited by a handful of people and by those mysterious presences that the aborigines called moais. Something had happened, something enormous that ended up decimating the population and destroying each tree, with each natural shadow ... Today the mystery is more valid than ever.
Y is that despite the discovery of the technique to move the statues, it was later discovered that under the island there are roads made of stones that are compacted with almost terrifying perfection.
Each discovery increases the mystery and perplexity of the modern world. So visiting the island is the closest thing we humans have to contact with total amazement. But you have to know what to do within its 163.7 square kilometers.
Easter Island belongs to Chile, specifically to the Valparaíso region. It only has 5035 inhabitants grouped together in the capital and the only insular town: Hanga Roa. It is the most remote island in the world, as it is 3,800 kilometers from the nearest continental Chilean space.

Sunrise in Tongariki

The well-known fact sunrise, which is the most common thing in this world because it is repeated every day since the planet exists, is on Easter Island one of the most memorable shows for human understanding.
A chromatic waste, that opens the mind. The most accepted theory about the existence of the moais is that they represent the ancestors of the first aborigines and that they attest to the cult that they made them, but the destruction that the next generation made of them only adds to the doubts. There are shows that cast doubt on whether we really understand the human condition already.

& nbsp;
Ahu Akivi, The Seven Moais

Each of the moais see towards the center of the island, each one of the more than 900 minus seven that face the sea. One of the legends tells that the statues represent the explorers sent by King Hotu Mau'a before a colonizing trip. & Nbsp;
These statues are arranged on a ceremonial platform called Ahu Akivi, which gives rise to other nearby walks.

The caves of Ana Te Pahu

Very close to the Ahu Akivi are the caves of Ana Te Pahu, created thousands of years ago by the lava channels of a large volcanic eruption.
Ana Te Pahu is at the foot of the Maunga Hiva Hiva, the crater that generated the last great lava spill.
In Rapanui language, Ana Te Pahu means something like "the cave of the drum". The name derives from the natural kilometer-and-a-half drum that left the lava passage.
Due to its enormous size, this island was the home of the first inhabitants of the territory. It is also known as the cave of bananas due to the large number of these that have been planted at its entrance for centuries and centuries. After the island was destroyed by what is still unknown, at the door of this cave a natural nursery still worked thanks to the humidity.

Ana Kai Tangata Cave

On the seashore there is another cave, one of the most interesting in the Pacific Ocean: Ana Kai Tangata.
It is only 10 meters wide by five meters high and 15 meters deep, & nbsp; but her cave paintings make it one of the most attractive tourist sites on Easter Island.
As Ana means "cave", Tangata "man" and Kai "eat", some linguists believe that the correct translation of the name is "the cave of the cannibals", a theory that is not completely removed from reality because oral tradition has shown that cannibalism was practiced on the island.

The archaeological site of Vinapu

Here the moai were destroyed. The possible reasons go through a war between the tribes that occupied the island. However, the greatest asset of the place is not the sculptures but the perfect mastery of the construction and carving techniques that the people of Easter had.
Nowhere else in Polynesia never existed a similar way of carving stone as the one discovered on Easter Island. That is why the archaeological site of Vinapu makes some archaeologists think that the island had an important Inca influence.

& nbsp;
The Rano Kau volcano

This is one of the favorite places for tourists visiting Easter Island. The total immensity of the sea contrasts with that of the giant crater to offer a feeling of desolation in the human heart that is only interrupted by the continuation of the walk.

The Orongo Ceremonial Center

To the southwest of the Rano Kau volcano is the village of Orongo, which was inhabited by the chiefs and important people of the tribes with religious motives. It was the cult of the manurata bird, which was going to leave its eggs in the spring in the place.
In the place there are also indications that there was an astronomical observatory in Orongo, used mainly to know the position of the sun.
Today the Orongo Ceremonial Center is one of the unavoidable places of tourists for all the information they can acquire there .

& nbsp;
Diving in Los Motus
This is one of the most meaningful alternative experiences for those who visit Easter Island. Tourists will see corals they never imagined and tropical fish they surely didn't know existed.

Easter Island at Night

Only those who have already gone know that the nights of Easter Island are unique in the world. So it is best to enjoy them with the planning of the experts. In this sense, there is the Rapa Nui Dinner Show tour, which takes tourists to one of the best restaurants on the island to enjoy seafood in unusual and delicious presentations.
After dinner, the visit is to the Kari Kari Cultural Center to enjoy an artistic show that summarizes the culture of Rapa Nui.
Easter Island It is still one of the great mysteries that remain to be solved on planet Earth. Every day more doubts are dissipated, but reasons for many others appear. The opportunity to be there should not be overlooked because so many perplexities have rarely come out of a single island that not only tell us about history but also about the same human condition. & Nbsp;
