Buenos Aires is one of the cities in the world that is characterised for the large quantity of activities and green spaces it offers. This space means that people of any age are able to go out and enjoy exercising, excel in their favourite sports and meet people who partake in the same sport. 


In and out of the city you can find various outdoor spaces where you can run, walk, roller-skate, skateboard, longboard and ride a bike! When you have finished your exercise you can enjoy a coffee, something tasty to eat or even drink a cold beer with your friends. The green spaces where you can do sports in Buenos Aires can be found in Palermo, Puerto Madero and the northern zones (Vicente López, Olivos, Tigre).


Adults and youngsters choose these places for their wide space, for their accessibility and because they practice all type of sports. Buenos Aires has more than 1500 plazas, parks and leisure spaces than you can combine with excursions around the city so that you can add more knowledge about the history and culture of Argentines.




1.Ecological Reserve (Reserva Ecológica)


100% asphalt free, a perfect for cycling or running in Buenos Aires. Throughout the 350 hectares you will be surrounded by wild animals and natural landscapes. The reserve offers four non-stop circuits that range between 2 and 8 kilometres. The gates open at 8 am and close at 8 pm but are closed on a Monday. 2.Forests of Palermo (Bosques de Palermo)

With its 370 hectares, this is the largest green space in the city. This place is chosen for its paths surrounded by trees, picturesque lakes, bridges and sculptures. Here you will find the Rosedal, a 1.6-kilometre asphalt path, ideal for cyclists, runners, roller-skaters and skaters. At the weekend free music shows, workshops and sports events all take place. Located very close to the Argentine Polo ground (Campo Argentino de Polo) and the Tres de Febrero park.


3.North Costanera Sports Park (Parque Deportivo Costanera Norte)


This park is one of the meeting points for practicing extreme sports. You will find among the facilities a longboard track, a snakebowl, two bowls, an inline hockey pitch, an inline slalom pitch, a mountain bike circuit, a space for slackline, climbing platforms and a sports post with physical exercise equipment. 




4.The Argentine Women’s Park (Parque Mujeres Argentinas)

A park with a perimeter of 1.1km surrounded by grass, trees and rose bushes. You will see teenagers enjoying picnics or practicing longboard and mountain biking on the slopes. This is a well-lit and safe zone that allows you to enjoy all the parks and running circuits offered until the evening. 


5.Cycle circuits (Circuitos de Ciclovías)

The city has more than 180 kilometres of bicycle lanes that go from north to south and east to west, passing by the most symbolic places in the city! If you want to feel safer, you can join a private bicycle tour. These tours are very entertaining and they can be done in a group with a guide who knows interesting information. If you would rather not do a tour, you can rent cycles for as long as you wish. 


6.Costanera North and South (Costanera Norte y Costanera Sur)


These are the preferred places for Argentines to walk, cycle and run during the weekend, since its view of the Río de la Plata is ideal for relaxing and enjoyment. Together with the neighbourhood of Palermo, they are the zones that outdoor sporting events take place on the streets. 


7.Delta

The Tigre zone is a good option to get away from the city and enjoy a walk surrounded by natural beauty. The Delta’s rivers offer a large amount of aquatic sports such as kayaking, windsurfing, kite-surfing, wakeboarding and paddle-boarding. You can also enjoy running and cycling circuits. This area is home to the Buenos Aires rowing club too. To end your day you can sit in front of the river and regain energy by eating a barbecue or having a beer or juice.




8.Sarmiento Park (Parque Sarmiento)

More than 70 hectares that stand out for their sports installations. More than four football pitches, two paddle ball courts, two Olympic size pools, handball courts and twelve cement tennis courts. In addition, there are courts for volleyball, softball, roller-skates, BMX freestyle and an athletics tracks. The installations are accompanied by two fast-food restaurant as well as parking and the Argentine parrillas. Also in the park you will find a 3000-meter bike path and an aerobic circuit. For children and adults who want to learn, there are schools for athletics, hockey, tennis and gymnastics. 


9.Chacabuco Park (Parque Chacabuco)

The most popular park in the city, close to the Caballito neighbourhood. This park has more than 50 hectares with aerobic circuits and outdoor gym machines. In addition, there is a 400-meter running track. You will find that the park is open from Monday to Saturday from morning until night. All facilities are free. 


10.Centenary Park (Parque Centenario)


Located right in the centre of the city, the 12 hectares of vegetation make it an oasis within the urban landscape. This explains why some 12,000 people visit every weekend to enjoy an afternoon in this green space. There are many activities and they are all free, surrounding an amphitheatre, parks for children, a lagoon and various museums.
