Bariloche is the third city in Argentina that receives the most tourists, behind Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata. Despite the amount of people, there are quiet and isolated places to walk for long hours.

The trekking to Refugio López is a hike of medium difficulty, with an approximate duration of 6 hours round trip and a total distance of 10 kilometers.

During the walk, you will enjoy an incomparable landscape of mountains, forests and lakes. The panoramic view of Moreno and Nahuel Huapi lakes is simply paradisiacal. You will also come across local flora and fauna along the way, with native species of the region such as coihues, cypresses, lengas, woodpeckers, and condors.

The López refuge is located at 1450 meters above sea level and is the perfect place to rest and enjoy some mates, while you observe the splendid panorama of the area. If you are lucky, you will be able to see how the condors fly over the area, creating a unique spectacle in the sky.

El Refugio López It is also an excellent starting point to explore other nearby hiking trails, such as Cerro Bella Vista or Lago Escondido.
