Travel from El Calafate and discover two of the most spectacular destinations in southern Patagonia in a single day: El Chaltén, the National Capital of Trekking, and the majestic Viedma Glacier, the largest in Argentina.
The day begins early with transportation from your hotels in El Calafate to Tunnel Bay, on the shores of Lake Viedma, very close to El Chaltén. During the bus ride, the landscape changes from the steppe to the first views of the Andes Mountains, anticipating our arrival at one of the most beautiful places in Los Glaciares National Park.
At Puerto Bahía Túnel, we board to begin a scenic cruise across Lake Viedma, surrounded by turquoise waters and the snow-capped peaks of the Huemul Massif. During the trip, the boat sails among the icebergs that have calved from the glacier, while the guide shares information about their formation and evolution.
After about 40 minutes, we arrive at Cape Horn Bay, where we take a short, easy hike to a natural viewpoint on the Cape Horn Peninsula. From there, you can see the Iceberg Bay and the front of the Viedma Glacier in all its splendor, a perfect opportunity to enjoy the Patagonian silence and capture memorable photographs.
Back on the boat, the approach to the front of the Viedma Glacier begins, an impressive moment in which the blue tones and textures of the ancient ice can be appreciated. On board, passengers enjoy an included Lunch Box, perfect for accompanying this stretch of pure contemplation and wonder.
At the end of the cruise, we return to the port and continue by road, where the guide will accompany the group on an interpretive tour of the town, sharing its history, culture, and the daily life of this charming mountain village.
The excursion continues with a hike to Chorrillo del Salto, a waterfall surrounded by Andean forest, easily accessible and extremely beautiful, ideal for closing the day with an intimate connection with nature.
Finally, we begin the return to El Calafate, taking with us the memory of a unique day that combines landscapes, nature, comfort and excitement in the heart of Los Glaciares National Park.
