Discover the Tradition of the Countryside and Wine on our exciting tour at the Castillo Viejo Winery.
In its natural setting, you can interact with Hereford cows and calves on 5 hectares of pastureland. A professional winemaker will accompany you throughout the tour.
You can also visit the Experimental Vineyard with 6 grape varieties and learn how grape quality influences our wines. Additionally, in the fermentation plant, you`ll see the process and machinery used.
The experience culminates in the wine cellar with tastings of Catamayor Blanc de Blancs, Reserva Merlot, and Reserva de la Familia Tannat . You can also choose a cheese and charcuterie board accompanied by artisanal breads and emulsions, or a delicious paired lunch.

The tour begins with a welcome to the winery , accompanied by a glass of wine or flavored water. During the winter months, we will greet you in the winery `s lobby with a cup of coffee.
The tour will continue with our resident winemaker leading you to the Experimental Vineyard . Here, you`ll be amazed by the six grape varieties cultivated: Tannat , Pinot Noir , Merlot , Cabernet Sauvignon , Cabernet Franc , Marselan , and Albariño . You`ll learn how to distinguish each variety by its characteristics and understand the importance of grape quality in the winemaking process.
We`ll continue on to the modern Bottling Line , where you`ll see the Italian machinery in action that guarantees the quality of every bottle. You`ll even have the opportunity to label some wines by hand.
Next, you will go to our Sensory Analysis room, where you can experience some of the aromatic patterns that characterize wines.
The culmination of our tour will be in the Cellar , where the French and American oak barrels are stored. Here, you will have the opportunity to taste a wine directly from the barrel (subject to availability) .
The wine cellar will be the venue for our tastings and lunches. You will be able to sample Catamayor Blanc de Blancs, Reserva Merlot , and Reserva de la Familia Tannat wines, accompanied by a selection of cheeses and charcuterie , breads, and artisanal emulsions that will enhance the gastronomic experience.
If you wish, for an additional cost you can have lunch there with a 3-course paired menu accompanied by Catamayor Blanc de Blancs , Vieja Parcela Cabernet Franc , Catamayor Gran Tannat and Catamayor Single Barrel .

J'ai adoré la dégustation de vin à la Bodega Castillo Viejo ! Tout était parfait, depuis les délicieux vins locaux jusqu'au déjeuner savoureux. L'organisation et le personnel étaient exceptionnels.
