Experience astronomy near El Calafate and discover the southern sky from a privileged vantage point. This nighttime excursion will take you to Estancia La Catalina, located approximately 30 km from the city, where the distance from urban lights allows for better conditions for stargazing.
The experience begins with a search for your hotel, house, apartment, or restaurant in El Calafate. The exact pick-up time will be confirmed the day before the tour.
Upon arrival at the lodge, a guide will give you an introduction to astronomy , explaining some of the celestial phenomena and bodies you'll be able to observe during the activity . Then, together with an astronomer, you'll begin observing the sky with telescopes, exploring stars, constellations, planets, the Moon, and deep-sky objects , depending on visibility and weather conditions.
During this activity, you will learn to recognize different elements of the night sky , identify the cardinal directions using the stars, and discover stories from the mythology of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. It's an opportunity to connect with the universe and explore another facet of the Patagonian landscape.
At the end of the observation, you can take home a free family photo as a memento of the experience. You'll also enjoy a café and dessert table with a variety of teas, coffee, yerba mate, alfajores, puddings, and muffins with dulce de leche. A gluten-free option is also available; please request it in advance.
After this evening dedicated to astronomy, you will begin your return to your accommodation in El Calafate.
