About this tour
Our tour begins at 8:30 AM with pick-up from hotels in downtown El Calafate. We'll head to the foothills of the Andes Mountains and begin our ascent of the Cerro Frías mountain road . This road is located on the grounds of Estancia Alice , 23 kilometers from the city center , where we'll have the opportunity to observe local flora and fauna. We'll travel in Land Rover Defender vehicles , specially prepared and adapted to ensure safety and comfort throughout the excursion.
As we ascend , we'll get an incredible panoramic view of the area and, for example, observe the vastness of Lake Argentino . We'll reach the first viewpoint , located 450 meters above sea level, from where we'll see the Centinela River.
Our second stop is at 1030 meters and offers views of the Torres del Paine, Lago Roca, the Cadena de Cristales (Crystal Chain), the Canal de los Témpanos (Iceberg Channel), the Rico Sur branches of Lago Argentino, and the northern arm of the same lake. If we are lucky enough to have a clear day, we will be able to see the Andes Mountains and Mount Fitz Roy.
Once we reach the highest point of the trail , our descent will begin from the native lenga forest down the southern slope of the hill until we reach the ranch's barbecue area. There, we'll have time to enjoy the facilities and relax , and we'll also have a space to eat, whether it's a packed lunch, a snack, or dinner, depending on the option chosen.
Finally, after these hours , we will return to the city center and drop you off at your centrally located hotel.

We start the 4x4 trip from the farm gate ascending the Mount Frias, through trails with views
of the main body of the Argentino Lake. After twenty minutes we stop at the first viewing point at 450 meters, facing the Centinela river valley. We continue rising to the second viewing point at 1.030 meters with incredible views of Torres del Paine, Southern and Northern canals of the Argentino Lake, the highest picks of the Andes mountain chain, and the Fitz Roy Mount, depending on the weather. We continue the 4x4 adventure descending the Frias Mount through the lengas forest in the South slope of the mount, finishing at our Quincho, Alice’s ranch main house, where we’ll have a meal before returning back to El Calafate.
