The Solís Theater is a theater and music hall located in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay. It is one of the main rooms in the country, after almost 160 years, is the primary center of the region's musical and cultural performances. From the National Comedy and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Montevideo, to the Cultural Center of Music and Pro Opera, are some of the histrionic companies that can be enjoyed in this wonderful setting. it has a capacity for 1,500 spectators, and is owned by the Municipality of Montevideo.  The construction project of the Solís theater in Montevideo, began in the mid-1840s, however, the independence and political instability of the country made the continuation suspended for more than 10 years, until in 1856 it was inaugurated.  In its style, we can notice the strong European influence, examples of this are the main facade that resembles the Calor Felice theater in the city of Genoa, the slightly elliptical room similar to that of the La Scala theater in Milan, and the interior that bears a strong resemblance to the Italian theater of the Metastasio de Prato theater; so it can be said that there is a piece of Europe in Montevideo.

The Main Hall is the center of attention and where the great presentations at the Solís theater have taken place in Montevideo has been in its Main Hall, which since the inauguration of this venue more than a century and a half ago, has witnessed the great culture of this nation and the international.  Its horseshoe shape, known as "alla italiana", its beautiful five levels that surround the stalls and the lavish atmosphere of its interior, make it an extraordinary place to enjoy great scenic and musical works.

Secondary rooms are The Zavala Muniz Hall is the setting for major international opera works, the Curotto Esplanade is home to the National Comedy and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Montevideo, the Sala Zavala Muniz is the "black box" of the theater where the viewer can have a unique approach with the artist.  There is also the Sala Delmira Agustinia where the most intimate conferences and events are held, the Explanada C. Zucchi in which one can admire the historical analysis of the creation of this theater, the Hall which has received the millions of spectators who have already passed the most famous artists and characters who have visited this venue, and the spectacular Foyer, also known as the "Golden Hall" for its exquisite decoration in this color.

As we could enjoy, the beautiful Solís theater in Montevideo is a true center of the culture of Uruguay, since the quality and the variety of the artistic presentations that take place inside it are fantastic.  If you are visiting Montevideo, do not miss the opportunity to visit the Solís Theater. It was inaugurated in the 19th century (1856), and it remains impeccable, very beautiful in its structure, its acoustics, and its splendor. Theater plays are shown, as well as musical shows by various artists. Beautiful place to meet and enjoy.
