It is a mirror of water located in the puna at more than 4,200 meters above sea level. It is within the Laguna Brava Provincial Reserve in the Vinchina Department.
The lagoon is home to migratory birds, especially pink flamingos, and fauna of height, such as vicuñas and Andean foxes. In 2003, it was declared a RAMSAR site for being one of the most important wetlands in the region.

La Rioja and attracts thousands of tourists a year. The place can only be reached with authorized guides and at limited times. The summer season is the ideal time to get to know this natural beauty, since in winter there is usually snow.
