Spend an unforgettable day at La Porteña ranch, learning about gauchos, Argentina and our traditions.

You’ll see the incredible landscapes around Buenos Aires and learn all about life in the country. This tour includes food and drink throughout the day.

Take part in a huge variety of activities, including horseback riding, gaucho music and shows, foosball, volleyball, walks down the river Areco, visiting the farm animals and even horse-drawn carriage rides to explore the 750-acre grounds of the ranch.

Details of Full Day At La Porteña Ranch

When we arrive, we’ll be welcomed with traditional, local empanadas and some drinks (Argentinian wine, beer, soft drinks and water). Our LUNCH will be a local asado (barbeque) with a variety of salads, barbequed veggies, a pudding and some coffee to finish, along with drinks. For MATEADA, later in the afternoon, we’ll provide coffee, tea and the traditional mate, along with a selection of cakes, alfajores (biscuits with dulce de leche) and homemade pastries.

ACTIVITIES (all included):

Tour of the old parts of the ranch

Horseback riding, guided by a gaucho

Horse-drawn carriage rides

Gaucho guitar music

Gaucho and local skill show

Visit the animals: calves, goats, pigs, geese, hens and sheep, among others

Swimming pool (in season)

Main room with fireplace, plasma TV, billiards, ping-pong, board games and foosball

For children: sandpit, hammocks, slide, playhouse, toys and other activities

Other sports (volleyball, soccer and bicycles)

Wi-Fi in common area.


Guided visit to San Antonio de Areco, the nearby village, and the Museo de Ricardo Güiraldes

Doma India (art of taming horses according to their individual characters)

Tour of the area in a 1944 army Jeep (US Navy)

Riding lessons (depending on availability, consult beforehand)

Polo shows and classes

Relaxing and deep-tissue massage

Golf (10 minutes from the ranch)

Time in ranch: 11am - 6:30pm

La Porteña is the site where Ricardo Güiraldes, author of Don Segundo Sombra (one of the most important works of Argentine literature) spent his childhood. The period feel is still very much alive, and La Porteña was even declared a National Historic Monument because of the local Argentine architecture which remains intact.
