Your adventure to the world`s most fascinating natural sanctuary begins upon landing at Baltra Airport. After a warm welcome from your expert naturalist guide and a glimpse into the island`s rich history as a World War II military base, you`ll board your vessel. In the afternoon, the bow points towards South Plazas , a small but vibrant islet where black lava contrasts with a carpet of succulent vegetation ( Sesuvium ) that shifts from deep green to brilliant red depending on the season. Upon disembarking, you`ll walk among towering Opuntia cacti, yellow-hued land iguanas, and colonies of sea lions basking on the rocks, while swallow-tailed gulls and boobies soar along the dramatic vertical cliffs.
DAY 2 – The Black Turtle Cove marine sanctuary and the serenity of giants
At dawn, we`ll embark on an experience of absolute contemplation at Black Turtle Cove . Aboard a panga, with the engine off, we`ll gently glide through channels flanked by dense red mangroves. In this haven of crystal-clear, calm waters, marine life reveals itself in its purest form: green sea turtles parading beneath the boat, peaceful whitetip reef sharks, eagle rays in formation, and great egrets stalking from the branches. In the afternoon, we`ll ascend to the Santa Cruz Highlands . In the afternoon, the adventure intensifies as we climb the stone steps of El Barranco (Prince Philip`s Steps). DAY 4 – Sullivan Bay`s lava fields and Bartholomew`s timeless postcard
Today you`ll delve into Earth`s recent geological history. The morning begins in Sullivan Bay on Santiago Island, where we`ll disembark on a sea of solidified Pahoehoe lava formed in the late 19th century. Walking across these undulating volcanic flow structures will help you understand the formation of the islands while you observe Galapagos penguins, hawks, and oystercatchers adapted to this pristine environment. In the afternoon, we`ll visit the legendary Bartolomé Island . We`ll ascend a comfortable wooden walkway to the summit to marvel at the archipelago`s most iconic and photographed panoramic view: the majestic Pinnacle Rock guarding two turquoise bays. You`ll have free time to snorkel at the foot of the monolith, swimming surrounded by tropical fish, rays, and penguins.
DAY 5 – The wild encounter in North Seymour and farewell
On our final morning, we`ll disembark on the vibrant North Seymour Island , a small island teeming with wildlife unafraid of humans. Walking along its rocky trail, you`ll witness nature`s unfolding spectacle firsthand: male frigatebirds with their bright red throat pouches inflated to attract mates, blue-footed boobies performing their famous courtship dances, and land iguanas seeking refuge beneath the cacti.
