The capital of Uruguay is a vibrant, eclectic place with an amazing nightlife full of Latin music and tango dancing. It is a city that combines history and modernity. Montevideo is the administrative headquarters of Mercosur.
Music, theater, and arts are alive in this city. There, you can find elegant theaters, cozy little tango bars, and beachfront discos. In addition, there are also excellent restaurants serving Uruguayan and international cuisine. 
We recommend you to explore as many places as possible, and here there is a list of some of them.

El Pony Pisador 
This is a renowned place in the nightlife of the Uruguayan people and tourist. It is a bar, restaurant, and disco. Here, you will find live music and it goes from pop to cumbia. In other words, it is a place for after work beer, tasty a dinner or to party.

Café  Bar Tabaré
It is one of the oldest and best bars in South America. In 1919, when it was founded, it was a grocery; later expanded and become a restaurant. In 1993, it reopened as a pub and restaurant. They offer to Stand up comedy evenings and concerts.  It is one of the 10 best bars in the world. 

La Giraldita
It is located in a calm street. It is an old-fashioned bar decorated with wooden furniture and a lot of posters. Here, you will find the possibility of eating typical Uruguayan dishes. It is a place to enjoy with the family and friends.

Tango Bar El Hacha
It is a historic tango bar founded in 1974. Its stone walls are already over 200 years old. This bar has a special charm that combines international cuisine and tango. Many football players, boxers, and poets still go there. 

Lotus 
It is a disco, located in the city's World Trade Center. It is a place for locals, hipsters, and wannabes. Here, you can listen to Electronic music and house. Be prepared to dress because this place has a strict dress code, especially for men.

Phonoteque
It is one of the trendiest clubs in Montevideo. It opens on Saturdays nights. It is the place where you will find DJs from Latin America. It is specialized in electronic sounds and styles.

Teatro Solís
It is located close to Plaza Monumental. This theater has been hosting opera, dance, and concerts since 1856. In the late 1990's, it was totally refurbished. This spectacular place is the cultural heart of the city.

Montevideo nightlife starts late and it is amazing because it combines modernity and culture, it means that even at nights Montevideo Shows its culture.
