Your adventure begins at 8 :00 AM, departing from Riohacha. Along the way, you will enjoy the spectacular views of La Guajira, known for itsdesert landscapes and its rich biodiversity. During the journey, we will make a brief stop in Palomino, a popular tourist destination, to capture the beauty of its beaches and the mouth of the Palomino River into the Sea Caribbean. If you are staying in Palomino, you can opt for the pick up from that place.
Around 10:00 AM, we will arrive at Taironaka, where the Community Tourism group will welcome you with an educational talk about the conservation of the local ecosystem, home to an incredible diversity of fauna, including turtles, alligators , birds and primates, as well as various species of flora. Next, we will undertake a walk to the upper part of the river, where you can admire the native flora and fauna. This hike offers stunning views of the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest coastal mountain in the world.
At noon We will explore Taironaka Park with the guidance of local interpreters. You will learn about the ancestral history of the region through visits to archaeological sites and observation of pieces in the local museum, which show the life and culture of the ancient Tayrona. Afterwards, we will enjoy a typical lunch in one of the local restaurants, where you can taste traditional dishes from the region prepared with fresh and local ingredients. This will be a perfect time to relax and recharge.
At 2:00 PM, we will begin the exciting tubing descent down the Don Diego River until its mouth. During this tour, you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the landscape and observe the diversity of flora and fauna along the river. Tubing offers a unique experience of relaxation and adventure while you let yourself be carried away by the gentle river currents. Upon reaching the mouth, you will have free time to relax, explore the area and take photographs of the spectacular meeting of the river with the sea. This place is ideal to capture unforgettable moments and enjoy the tranquility of the environment.
At 4:00 PM, we will take the road back to Riohacha, reflecting on the natural and cultural wealth of the area. Arrival in Riohacha is scheduled for approximately 6:00 PM, thus closing a day full of unique and unforgettable experiences.
