Get ready to experience one of the most exciting adventures in Chilean Patagonia!

Kayaking on Grey Lake invites you to discover the impressive Grey Glacier from a unique perspective, paddling among gigantic icebergs in one of the most spectacular landscapes of Torres del Paine National Park.

The excursion lasts approximately 3 hours and operates between October and March, with daily departures at 08:00, 11:00 and 16:30 hrs. , always subject to weather and wind conditions.

The adventure begins at Grey Beach, next to Grey Refuge, where our certified bilingual guides will provide you with all the necessary equipment for the activity , including a double kayak, wetsuit, paddling jacket, neoprene boots and booties, spray skirt, paddle, life jacket, helmet, and dry bag. Before entering the water, you will participate in a safety briefing, where you will learn how to operate the kayak, the route, and the conditions of the trip.

Once ready, we`ll begin paddling across the waters of Grey Lake, surrounded by imposing floating icebergs that create a unique setting. The journey will take us to the eastern side of Grey Glacier, where we can admire its enormous ice walls up close and contemplate the immensity of this spectacular landscape.

During the journey, you`ll be surrounded by some of Patagonia`s most iconic landmarks, such as Cerro Paine Grande, the Olguín mountain range, and Grey Glacier itself. Every paddle stroke will be an opportunity to connect with nature and capture unforgettable photographs of one of Chile`s most breathtaking corners.

During a break in the sailing , you`ll enjoy a snack and a hot drink , perfect for recharging while taking in the scenery. Weather permitting, the return journey will include a trip around Nunatak Island before returning to Grey Refuge.

Due to the physical demands of the activity, a good level of fitness is recommended . The experience is available to participants between 14 and 65 years old. We also advise wearing a long-sleeved base layer and clothing suitable for low temperatures and wet conditions to enjoy the activity more comfortably.

At the end of this adventure you will return to dry land with unforgettable memories and the satisfaction of having explored one of the most extraordinary landscapes in Patagonia.

How to get there

Option 1: From Puerto Natales, head to the departure point for the Grey Lake Navigation aboard the Grey III catamaran. Depending on the selected time, you will need to check in one hour in advance to arrive at Refugio Grey and participate in the excursion.

Option 2: Arrive by private vehicle or regular bus to Pudeto and take the Hielos Patagónicos catamaran that crosses Lake Pehoé to Paine Grande. From there you will have to walk approximately 11 km (3.5 hours) along the trail to Refugio Grey.
