Ushuaia Winter Valleys: Powder, Peace, Laughter, And Cocoa Moments

    Reviews

Hands down my favorite day in Ushuaia. Tangol nailed it: smooth pickup, friendly guides who kept things fun and safe, and jaw-dropping valley views blanketed in snow. We played in the powder, did an easy snowshoe walk, slid around like kids, and warmed up in a cozy refuge with hot drinks. Perfect balance of adventure and chill. Wear layers and waterproof gloves. If you're in town in winter, don't skip this tour.

The Winter Valleys excursion in Ushuaia typically includes round-trip transportation from centrally located hotels, a bilingual guide (Spanish/English), entrance fees to winter resorts, and specific equipment for snow activities as per the program (e.g., snowshoes, dog sledding, snowmobiling, or tubing). It usually includes a regional afternoon snack or dinner at a mountain refuge. Personal thermal clothing, alcoholic beverages, tips, photographs, personal expenses, and additional clothing rentals are not usually included. Some activities may require supplements. We recommend checking the Tangol voucher for final inclusion/exclusion details, as these may vary depending on the season, availability, and the tour package purchased.
Depending on the winter season in Patagonia, the Winter Valleys tour can operate as a half-day (approximately 5–6 hours) or full-day (8–9 hours) excursion. Morning departures are available, and in many cases, afternoon departures are also offered to enjoy the southern sunset and the refuge experience. Pick-up is usually from centrally located hotels in Ushuaia; if you are staying outside this area, a meeting point will be arranged. Schedules may be adjusted based on daylight hours, road conditions, and weather. During peak season (June to September), advance booking is recommended. Always confirm the exact time, waiting window, and meeting point on your voucher.
To enjoy your excursion in the Winter Valleys, dress in layers: a thermal base layer, a warm mid-layer (fleece or softshell), and a waterproof and windproof outer layer. Add snow pants, waterproof boots with good traction, thermal socks, waterproof gloves, a hat, a neck warmer/buff, and goggles or sunglasses with UV protection. Bring sunscreen, lip balm, water, and your ID. The tour operator usually provides specific technical equipment (e.g., snowshoes, helmets, or balaclavas for snowmobiling) when the activity requires it. If you don`t have suitable clothing, many rental shops in Ushuaia offer technical clothing packages for tourists.
The Winter Valleys excursion is popular with families and travelers seeking nature tourism with moderate adventure. The difficulty level is low to intermediate, requiring no prior experience; activities are guided and include safety instructions. Some options (snowmobiles or dog sledding) may have age, height, or companion restrictions; they may also not be recommended for pregnant women or people with heart conditions, back problems, or reduced mobility. Young children typically participate in gentler activities or stay at the lodge with an adult. Please inform the operator of any medical conditions when booking and consult their fitness policies.
Operations in Ushuaia depend on the weather and snow conditions. If conditions are unsafe, the operator may reschedule, offer alternative activities (such as trekking or scenic 4x4 tours), or cancel. Cancellation and refund policies vary: many allow free changes with 24-48 hours` notice and refunds if the provider cancels due to force majeure. We recommend booking well in advance, keeping a working contact phone number, and purchasing travel insurance. Always check your Tangol voucher for deadlines, no-show fees, and rescheduling options during the winter season.
