Details of Day Tours

We will begin our day by meeting at our office at the Ushuaia tourist pier.

From there, we will board a bus to tour Route No. 3 and Route J, heading towards Martillo Island while we tour the beautiful Tierra del Fuego forest.

We will approach our boating area and sail for approximately 20 minutes in a semi-rigid boat to the island. There we will descend and for an hour we will walk with the Magellanic and Gentoo penguins, accompanied by a specialized guide who will give us information about the life of these animals as well as recommendations and precautions when being close to them.

After a free hour to walk with the penguins, we will start the return trip to the city of Ushuaia.

That`s not all, because we will meet again at our office in the afternoon to continue getting to know Ushuaia. At the dock we will check in and set sail on our boat along the impressive Beagle Channel. We will depart from the tourist dock and cruise along the Ushuaia Bay until we reach the Beagle Channel via Paso Chico. There we will sail around Bird Island, where we will be able to appreciate the Tierra del Fuego birdlife. Then, we will approach Isla de los Lobos, where we will observe one- and two-haired sea lions, always accompanied by an explanation from a professional guide.

Upon arriving at Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, we will be able to see the colonies of imperial cormorants and rock cormorants, while we listen to the story of the sinking of the SS Monte Cervantes, which occurred in 1930. We will have a few minutes for everyone to take photos of the Lighthouse.

Continuing our journey, we will head and descend on Karelo Island, belonging to the Bridges Islands, where we will observe Yámanas shell middens. We will take a guided walk, approximately 20 minutes long and of very low difficulty, which will take us to a panoramic point where you can take excellent photographs.

At the end of the journey, we will be able to see the view of the mountain range that surrounds the city of Ushuaia and the nature that surrounds it, and we will return to the tourist dock at night after a day full of historical and scenic value.

Yes, sailing through the Beagle Channel and hiking with penguins on Martillo Island is suitable for people of all ages. However, it`s important to mention that the hike can be moderate, so participants are advised to have adequate mobility. Families with children, couples, and individual travelers can enjoy this experience, provided they follow the safety instructions provided by the guides. Checking weather conditions beforehand and wearing appropriate clothing will significantly enhance the experience.
It`s essential to wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the southern climate, which may include waterproof and thermal clothing, as the weather can be changeable and windy. Good hiking shoes are important for your hike on the island. It`s also recommended to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a camera to capture memorable moments with the penguins. Don`t forget to wear a good coat to ensure you enjoy the experience without worrying about the cold.
Yes, it`s highly recommended to book the excursion in advance to secure your spot, especially during peak season. Spaces for the Martillo Island penguin walk are limited to ensure a more intimate and environmentally friendly experience. However, it`s important to check whether the price includes transportation to and from your accommodation in Ushuaia or if these must be arranged separately. Any additional entrance fees or tips for the guides are usually not included, so this may be something to consider when planning your budget.
