About this tour

This tour of the Quebrada de Humahuaca offers visitors the opportunity to explore a stunning landscape and learn about the rich ancient cultures of the region. This trip focuses on social contact and provides a unique vision of the ancestral.

The tour begins at approximately 9am with the arrival to the charming Pueblito de Purmamarca, where tourists can see the famous Cerro de los Siete Colores. Next, the tour continues to Posta de Hornillos and then heads to the picturesque town of Tilcara.

After Tilcara, the route continues towards Huacalera, passing through the Tropico de Capricornio, from where you can appreciate the beauty of the hill known as the Pollera de la Coya. An important stop on this itinerary is a visit to the Church of Uquía, famous for housing the paintings of theArquebusier Angels, an important vestige of the Cuzco school.

The next destination isHumahuaca, a town with an outstanding Cathedral and the Independence Monument (El Indio), a sculpture made by the artist Soto Avendaño. After a break for lunch (at each passenger`s expense) the tour continues along 42 kilometers that separate us from the viewpoint.

From Humahuaca, we We head east along provincial route 73, entering the cultivation valleys of Coctaca. We follow an uphill path until we reach 4200 meters above sea level, where we can enjoy impressive views of the Multicolored Hill of the Serranía del Hornocal. These beautiful panoramic views in the viewpoint allow us to appreciate and understand the geography of the entire region of the Quebrada de Humahuaca. 

The excursion is done by vehicle and lasts 8 hours . The maximum altitude reached during the tour is 4200 meters above sea level. We return at approximately 5pm, arriving in San Salvador de Jujuy or an intermediate town, depending on the itinerary and preferences of the passengers.
