About this tour

Your day in Tayrona Park starts early: from 06:00 AM our air-conditioned transport picks you up in the urban area of Santa Marta or at the agreed meeting point to begin the adventure, and we will leave the city passing through the center to take the Troncal del Caribe highway, which will take us for approximately one hour to the main entrance of the park, El Zaino .

Upon arrival, we will get out of the vehicle to complete the mandatory registration for each traveler, with the entrance already included, and from there we will travel to Cañaveral , where the trail begins and with it our ecological walk towards Cabo San Juan ; the path is well marked and invites you to enjoy the environment and take the best photographs as you go.

The hike lasts approximately two and a half hours, depending on your pace and the number of stops you make along the way. It follows winding trails that lead you deep into the rainforest , where you'll enjoy refreshing shade and appreciate the diverse flora and fauna of the park: ceiba trees, palms, ferns, and orchids, considered the national flower. Along the route, you'll pass beaches like Arenilla, La Piscina, and Arrecife , ideal for pausing and photographing the scenery . However, some beaches in Tayrona are not suitable for swimming due to strong currents, and your guide will indicate which ones are safe. Therefore, it's important to always stay on the marked trails and follow your guide's instructions.

As we approach Cabo San Juan , we will hear the sound of the waves crashing on the shore, which increases the excitement with every step, until the last part of the trail descends to the main beach and you are greeted by the open view of the Caribbean Sea with its white sand, a very rewarding moment after the walk.

Once in Cabo San Juan, you will have free time to rest and enjoy the surroundings, whether swimming in its crystal-clear waters or simply relaxing on the sand. At lunchtime, you will find restaurants with local dishes and fresh seafood, where your guide will recommend the best options for you to enjoy with a view of the Caribbean Sea (lunch not included in the activity). We suggest you bring cash, as there are no card machines in the park.

If you still have the desire to explore, you can take a short walk to the cape viewpoint for a panoramic view of the landscape, or take a dip in the nearby natural pools.

Around 2:00 PM we will begin the return hike along the same trail, another 2 and a half hours approximately, taking the opportunity to appreciate nature again and capture the last images of the landscape, and upon leaving the park we will return by transport to Santa Marta , where we will end the adventure around 5:30 PM with the drop off at the pick-up point.
