Discover Palomino, a small coastal town between the Caribbean Sea and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, known for its fresh atmosphere, wide beaches and its connection with nature. On this 2-day getaway, you`ll experience an authentic experience with a guided village tour, a free night by the sea, and a tubing adventure on the Palomino River, where you`ll gently descend among tropical landscapes with mountains in the background.
The tour departs from Riohacha and includes round-trip ground transportation, accommodation, activities, and the company of local guides. It`s an ideal option for those who want to disconnect, explore one of the most special areas of the Colombian Caribbean and combine nature, culture, and relaxation in a short time.
The experience will begin early in the morning with departure from Riohacha to Palomino, a destination known for its relaxed atmosphere, natural landscapes and the proximity between the river and the Caribbean Sea.
The journey lasts approximately an hour and a half, covering part of the Troncal del Caribe Highway, with tropical rainforest landscapes, small rural communities and sporadic views of the sea in the distance. Upon arrival, you`ll be greeted by the local team, who will give you an introduction to the day ahead.
After dropping off your luggage at the hotel, you`ll get ready for one of the most representative experiences in the area: tubing down the Palomino River. This activity combines relaxation and fun as you descend in inflatable balls through the calm waters of the river. For approximately two hours, the current will carry you through a lush natural environment, surrounded by tropical jungle, birdsong, and vegetation that changes along the way. Along the way, you`ll enjoy panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, in a setting where the river, the jungle, and the mountains converge. The tour ends near the river mouth, at a point where fresh water meets the sea: the Caribbean is just steps away.
At the end of the activity, you will enjoy a typical lunch at a nearby restaurant. Afterwards, you will have free time to rest or cool off on the riverbank. Please note that swimming in the sea is not recommended due to the strong currents that characterize this area of the Caribbean.
In the afternoon, you will return to the hotel for a short rest. Later, you will meet up with your local guides again for a tour of the village of Palomino. You will visit craft shops, appreciate its traditional architecture, and learn about the daily life of its inhabitants. The day will end with a free night at the beach, perfect for enjoying the coastal atmosphere, local music, and the ocean breeze.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will begin the return trip to Riohacha. Along the way, you will still be able to enjoy the last landscapes of Palomino: the vegetation that lines the road, the mountains that gradually recede, and the sounds of the Caribbean that accompanied you throughout the experience. You will be back in the city before noon, with the feeling of having lived a short but intense getaway, full of nature, adventure, and local culture. Wow, was für ein Abenteuer! Palomino ist einfach magisch. Der zweitägige Trip war genau das, was ich brauchte. Vom entspannten Fluss-Tubing bis zu den atemberaubenden Stränden, es war alles perfekt organisiert. Die Guides von Tangol Tours waren superfreundlich und haben ein paar echt coole Geschichten erzählt. Auch das Essen war köstlich! In den unterschiedlichen Landschaften Kolumbiens kann man total abtauchen. Muss man einfach erleben. Ich empfehle es jedem, der Kolumbien besucht.
