For three magical nights (Sunday, Monday and (Tuesday), the 12 samba schools of the special group compete with dazzling performances. Each night, 4 schools parade, culminating with the champion of the previous year. The show starts at 10 p.m. and goes until around 3 a.m.
The fascinating thing about parade is that each school tells a story, fusing folklore, music, and dance in a display of vibrant rhythms, extravagant fantasies, and dazzling floats. The "samba enredo" and the allegories narrate the plot, while the drums, with thousands of musicians and dancers, make the entire Sambadrome vibrate.
