About this tour
Day 1: Transfer to the Amazon Ecopark. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome juice and the lodge presentation.
During your stay, choose from the activities below: the schedule of activities/tours will be coordinated by the local operations department and informed upon your arrival.
TOUR TO THE "MEETING OF THE WATERS"
(Only available for passengers with hotel or airport pickup until 08:30).
Departure for ECOPARK aboard a double-decker regional boat. The boat travels down the Rio Negro, cruising along the Manaus waterfront, allowing passengers to see the Amazonas Theater, the Port of Manaus, the Customs House, and interesting aspects of local life, such as the stilt houses. Arrival at "The Meeting of the Waters" at 11:30 a.m.
It is a spectacular confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers. From this point, both rivers form the famous Amazon River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The waters of the two rivers run together for about 12 km, side by side, without mixing. This phenomenon occurs due to differences in temperature, density, and speed of the river waters.
The optional lunch will be served in a typical restaurant (rustic but clean buffet-style restaurant, international and regional dishes). Duration: 8 to 9 hours.
NATURE WALK
Biodiversity is the defining characteristic of ECOPARK. It includes uncatalogued species in pristine rainforests, natural savannas, and streams. Several crystal-clear, warm streams also flow through the park. During the tour, the guide will lead the way, educating visitors about the local flora and fauna, how and where to find edible fruits and drinking water, first aid, forest walking techniques, and much more. Duration: 1 to 3 hours (depending on the participants' health).
MONKEY FOREST
The wildlife rehabilitation and reintroduction facility (known as the Monkey Forest) was established in 1991 to receive animals confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade. This is a joint project with the Municipal Secretariat of Environment and Sustainability. At this center, the animals are initially quarantined to be evaluated and cared for by a team of veterinarians and biologists. In partnership with FFV (Live Forest Foundation), a non-profit organization overseen by Amazon Ecopark Lodge, a unique feeding system has been developed. Twice a day (10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.), the animals receive supplements of their natural diet, ensuring they are getting the necessary nutrients.
The Monkey Forest is open to guests during feeding times, always accompanied by a certified professional, allowing guests to film and photograph these animals in a safe, natural environment. Occasionally, the monkeys may not appear, as natural factors (breeding season, heavy rains) can interfere with their presence. Duration: 40 minutes to 1 hour.
IMPORTANT! Twice a year, the monkeys leave for 2-3 weeks to travel through the forest and mark their territory. During this period, it will not be possible to see the monkeys, except for those in quarantine.
VISIT TO THE CABOCLOS HOUSE
Leave the lodge in a motorized boat or canoe, accompanied by a bilingual guide to learn about the traditions and customs of the local Amazonians ("natives").
Duration: 40 minutes to 1 hour
FISHING TRIP
Departure from the lodge in rowboats or motorized canoes, accompanied by a bilingual guide. (Fishing for piranhas and other species, depending on the season). Note: This is non-commercial fishing.
Duration: 40 minutes to 1 hour
NIGHT TOUR BY CANOE
Depart from the lodge in paddle or motorized canoes to experience the sounds of the jungle at night, with the possibility of spotting small caimans (or other nocturnal creatures). Caimans are easily seen because their eyes glow like tiny red lights. Once the guide's spotlight locates a caiman, they will attempt to catch a small caiman by hand and bring it to the canoe, followed by a brief explanation of its habitat. The caiman will then be safely released back into the river. (No harm is done to any of the animals.) Duration: Approximately 1 hour.
Note: During the "high water level" season (April to August) and on full moon nights, it can be difficult to find alligators.
Day 2: Lodge Activities
Day 3: Lodge Activities
Day 4: Transfer back to Manaus.
