About this tour
Today we will begin this beautiful experience by leaving early in the morning from your hotel at approximately 6:30 a.m., or before the sun rises over the horizon, to head to the Hanga Nui sector.
As we approach Ahu Tongariki, we will see the imposing silhouettes of the 15 moai, each 22 meters long, crowning this ceremonial platform, gradually emerging from the darkness. The view is truly astonishing, as the stone colossi seem like vigilant guardians of the island`s ancient past.
As we walk along the path leading to Tongariki in the darkness, you can feel the excitement and anticipation building. The sound of waves breaking on the nearby shore and the gentle breeze will accompany you on your journey.
Ahu Tongariki is the largest and most majestic archaeological site on the island. As the sun begins to rise over the horizon, the skies are tinged with warm, golden hues. The moai, with their stone-carved faces, slowly begin to light up.
During this unique experience, our guide will share with us the history and cultural significance behind the moai and the Rapa Nui civilization. We will learn about the construction of these enormous statues, how they were transported and erected, as well as the beliefs and lifestyle of the island`s ancient inhabitants. We`ll also have the opportunity to take incredible photographs, capturing the magic and changing colors in the sky with the silhouette of these giants.
This excursion is particularly special between December 21st, the "summer solstice," and March 21st, the "autumn equinox," when the sun rises behind the Ahu, among its gigantic stone sculptures, providing unforgettable images. After that, the sun rises behind the Poike volcano, where wonderful images also await.
Along with enjoying this beautiful and unique view, we can have breakfast at the site before returning to the hotel.
