About this tour
Our excursion begins with the transfer from the hotels in El Calafate, starting at 7:30 am to the Starting point of our excursion around 9:30 am , at the abandoned parador on Route N ° 40 Luz divina- km 663. There, our professional guides will give a brief safety talk, before starting he walkthrough.
Once ready, we regulate the kayaks (passengers go in double kayaks and guides in single ones); and we carry out a training on safety and evacuation, rowing back and forth, turns and brakes and the operation of the river is explained. We got into the kayaks to start the downstream navigation.
During the river descent, we will be able to appreciate incredible landscapes and the contrast of the ocher colors of the steppe with the turquoise water of glacial origin that fascinated and captivated explorers such as Darwin, Moreno and Moyano. Groups of up to 8 people guarantee personalized service.
Kayak`s first trip has a duration approximately 1.15 hour (10 km) In the area of Cerro Fortaleza (Estancia la Meseta) we stop for lunch and trek through Cerro los Hornos , until a viewpoint where you can see bones and petrified logs. After a rest time , we go back up to the kayaks to do the last 1 hour stretch (6 km), observing the geological formations and the vegetation steppe, r running approximately 14 km in our kayaks , to Estancia La Irene (Arroyo Turbio) , where the excursion ends.
Once in The Estancia we can enjoy a snack with hot drinks to charge energy.
Return to El Calafate in the afternoon.
