Come and discover the Santa Cruz River, an emblematic waterway of Patagonia where the famous explorer Charles Darwin sailed.

Passing along the legendary Route 40, we will depart in a 4x4 to the river. We will recreate this journey aboard kayaks and, accompanied by a certified guide, we will have the opportunity to admire geological formations and a wide variety of wildlife along the way. After 15 km of paddling, the tour will end with a delicious lunch on the riverbank.

About this tour

The tour begins with the passengers' pick-up from their hotel in El Calafate. If you are not staying in an authorized hotel (Airbnb, private home), the meeting point will be at the ACA Parking Lot or at the roundabout near the Tourism Secretariat. A true multi-adventure excursion! We will depart in a 4x4 along the legendary Route 40 to the Santa Cruz River, one of the most important waterways in Argentina. There, after getting equipped and a technical briefing from our experienced guide, we will begin paddling downstream. During the 15 km journey, we will have the opportunity to admire geological formations, fossil remains, and a wide variety of fauna—elements that inspired Darwin on his legendary voyage through these lands. We will finally arrive at Estancia Río Bote, where a well-deserved lunch awaits us on the riverbank!

The tour will end with the return to the passengers' hotels in El Calafate.
