🚐 Transfer from El Calafate and Arrival at the National Park
Between 7:30 and 8:45 a.m., we’ll pick you up from your hotel in El Calafate to begin an unforgettable adventure to Los Glaciares National Park, located 80 km away. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most stunning places in Argentine Patagonia.
After about an hour in a comfortable vehicle, we’ll arrive at Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, where the water journey begins.
🛳️ Boat Ride with Views of the Perito Moreno Glacier
We’ll board for a 20-minute navigation across the Rico Arm of Lake Argentino, offering spectacular panoramic views of the Perito Moreno Glacier — one of the few glaciers in the world that is still advancing. This first part of the tour already hints at the greatness of the experience to come.
🥾 Beginning of the Minitrekking: Walk on the Ice
Once on the opposite shore —accessible only through this excursion—, our certified bilingual mountain guides will greet you and lead you to a small refuge for a brief introductory talk. Then, you’ll enjoy a scenic walk along the lake’s edge until reaching the glacier.
There, the guides will help you fit crampons —metal gear that attaches to your footwear— for safe walking on the ice. After a short technical briefing, the ice trek begins, lasting around two hours.
❄️ What You`ll See During the Glacier Trek
During the walk, you’ll discover:
- Unique blue-toned ice formations
- Small meltwater lagoons
- Crevasses, caves, and glacial streams
- Insights into the glacier’s geology, formation, and rupture phenomena
The surface is irregular but safe, and our guides always lead the best route, assisting those who need help.
This is a moderately physical experience, ideal for people in good general health and within the permitted age range.
📸 Photo Stops and Relaxation
We’ll make strategic stops for photos — perfect for unforgettable memories or social media sharing.
At the end of the trek, we celebrate with a glass of whisky served with millennia-old ice taken directly from the glacier. A unique and memorable finish.
🧭 Perito Moreno Glacier Walkways
After returning to the refuge, we’ll board the boat again, cross back to the port, and transfer by bus to the panoramic walkway area.
You’ll have free time to:
- Have lunch at the park’s restaurant or enjoy a picnic (we recommend bringing a packed lunch)
- Stroll along the different viewing balconies — ideal for the best photos from multiple angles
🚐 Return to El Calafate
At the end of the visit, we return to your hotel in El Calafate — the perfect end to an unforgettable Patagonian experience.

The main thing is the coat since the conditions are very cold.
A waterproof jacket. Closed, high, warm and if possible hiking shoes.
Gloves, wool hat and scarf.
As with walking you can perspire if the first layers of clothing are dri-fit thermal or synthetic that dry quickly is better.
The pants must allow easy movement since in the end it is very important to be comfortable. (if they are water repellent it adds up since it can touch a day with snowstorms or rain)
If possible waterproof bootie style shoes would be ideal. In any case, any comfortable walking shoe that is closed so that water from the ice that melts with body heat does not enter is enough.
The Perito Moreno glacier is in southern Argentina in the region called Patagonia. More specifically on the south west of the province of Santa Cruz within the Glacier National Park.

Une journée exceptionnelle dans le glacier perito très sombre. Marcher sur la glace est une activité unique et extraordinaire. Ce n’est pas aussi froid que je l’imaginais, ni difficile que je pensais, j’avais peur des préjugés et la vérité est que c’était de toutes les excursions à El Calafate de loin les plus heureuses. Assurez-vous de réserver ce circuit et vous verrez à quel point vous serez souriant le long du chemin. Le prix pourrait être inférieur, mais je comprends cela puisqu'il s'agit d'une promenade unique et que tant de gens veulent faire ... Merci

Ein außergewöhnlicher Tag am sehr dunklen Perito-Gletscher. Auf Eis zu gehen ist eine einzigartige und außergewöhnliche Aktivität. Es ist nicht so kalt, wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe, und es ist auch nicht schwierig, wie ich dachte, ich hatte Angst vor Vorurteilen und die Wahrheit ist, dass es von allen Ausflügen in El Calafate bei weitem am glücklichsten war. Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie diese Tour buchen, und Sie werden sehen, wie glücklich Sie unterwegs sein werden. Actividad imperdible
UN día excepcional en el mismísimo glaciar perito moreno. Caminar sobre el hielo es una actividad única y extraordinaria. No hace tanto frío como imaginaba ni tampoco es difícil como creía, yo tenia miedo por prejuicio y la verdad es que fue de todas las excursiones en el calafate por lejos la más feliz. Háganme caso reserven este tour y verán lo sonrientes que estarán a lo largo del trayecto. EL precio podría ser más bajo pero entiendo que como es un paseo único y que desea hacer tanta gente... Gracias
