It can serve as an introduction to El Calafate, prior to getting to know the National Park, as it allows you to understand beforehand to see and enjoy, it opens the senses and awakens curiosity about what Los Glaciares National Park offers; or it can serve as closing, since this visit seals the experience, leaving the door open to more questions, doubts, discoveries.
On the other hand, we also offer you a visit to its Glacio Bar, the first ice bar in Argentina. After your visit to the museum you will have entertainment in this bar completely made of ice, at sub-zero temperatures, with lights, music and a great time to enjoy with family or friends.

About this tour
The Glaciarium is located just 7 km from El Calafate, on the route to the Perito Moreno Glacier. That is why they offer free transfers from a specific meeting point, with departures every hour or half an hour, with returns also every half hour. The first service is from El Calafate to Glaciarium at opening hours, and the last service from Glaciarium to El Calafate is at closing hours.
The experience does not have a defined schedule other than the opening and closing of the Glaciarium, that is why although it has an estimated duration of 3 hours between the visit to the museum and 20 minutes the Glacio Bar ice bar, everyone can enjoy their experience of according to your preferences.
Upon entering the Glaciarium, you will be greeted by a dark hallway, accompanied by the pleasant sound of meltwater that drips The information panels will tell you about the formation of ice, the history of explorers and scientists, and the glaciological periods, accompanied by photographs by prominent photographers Argentines, such as Florian Von der Flecht, Daniel Wagner and Andrés Bonetti.
You will find a large model that represents theice field, the origin of the glaciers that you will admire during your visit. There is also a tribute toFrancisco Pascasio Moreno.
The tour includes a unique section dedicated to the Perito Moreno Glacier, known for its natural dam that eventually collapses with a large breach. You will finish the tour in a tunnel with a system of simultaneous projections. It alerts us to the reality of climate change.
In addition, the Glaciarium has an exhibition hall where samples of photography and painting are presented. The “Alberto M. De Agostini” auditorium/cinema screens the exciting documentary “La Voz del Glaciar”, with impressive shots taken with drones. The space is equipped with audio and video for events related to glaciology, nature and adventure.
Finally, you can visit the Eco-Shop, which offers a variety of design objects and ecological crafts, some made with recycled or natural materials such as pure wool. And if you need to relax, the Glaciarium cafeteria is ideal to enjoy the wide views of Lake Argentino and the Patagonian steppe.
The Glacio Bar has a unique location, in the heart of Argentine Patagonia. Its dimensions are 80 m², and its ambient temperature is -10 °C. Everything in the bar, from the walls to the furniture (including the glasses, the bar and the chairs), is made with ice from the glacier.
Upon entering, visitors are provided with
thermal layers and gloves. The temperature inside the enclosure ranges between -6 and -10 °C. The 20-minute experience is completed with animation, lights and music, creating a cheerful atmosphere while you enjoy
a shot and drink (white drinks, appetizers, liqueurs and non-alcoholic drinks) included.
