We invite you to have a great adventure through the famous Campo Piedra Pómez located in Antofagasta de la Sierra, in the beautiful province of Catamarca.

We will take you in a 4x4 vehicle from the Peñón area. It is a unique experience to live and discover a surprising landscape among natural sculptures in a rock desert with a combination of white, pink, ochre and yellow colors.  

You can choose your preferred trip option to visit the White Dunes, Carachi Pampa and the town of Antofagasta, in addition to a longer trip.

About this tour

Option 1: Campo Piedra Pómez and Dunas Blancas

We will be picked up at the El Peñón accommodations from 8 in the morning. Then, we will have a 30 km journey in a 4x4 vehicle until we reach the Campo de Piedra Pómez. 

Afterwards we will take a walk where the guide will explain to us about the origin of this magical place Campo de Piedra Pómez, such as its origin, composition, extension and more.

As we advance through the field, we will be able to capture this unique moment with our camera, make films and above all enjoy an unrepeatable experience. 

At the end of the excursion we will return to the town El Peñón by the same route, and they will drop us off again at our hotel.

Duration: 5 hours

Option 2: Campo de Piedra Pómez and Carachi Pampa

We will be picked up from our accommodation in El Peñón at 2:30 p.m. Afterwards, we will have a 90 km journey. We will go through sandy terrain until we reach the Carachi Pampa Volcano, an incredible place due to the basaltic flows found there, a beautiful lagoon with flamingos, the Carachi Hill and the charming Campo de Piedra Pómez.

At each tourist spot, we will make a stop where we can take photos and film this natural landscape of such emblematic value.

At the end of the excursion, we will be dropped off at the central hotels in El Peñón.
