About this cruise

The Darwin Route from Ushuaia is an eight-night exploration cruise that explores the southernmost channels of Tierra del Fuego for eight nights, passing through settings that combine history, legend, and unspoiled nature.

The itinerary invites you to discover the legendary Cape Horn, an ancient reference point for navigators and explorers, and the historic Wulaia Bay, an ancient Yámana settlement. You can also visit impressive glaciers such as Pía, Porter, Águila and Cóndor, which descend from the Darwin Mountain Range into the sea, offering unique panoramic views.

Excursions in Zodiac boats allow you to get close to fjords, islets and wildlife colonies, where you can observe Magellanic penguins, cormorants and sea lions in their natural habitat. There are also hikes through subantarctic Magellanic forests that show how life re-emerges after the retreat of the ice.

Between Argentina and Chile, this trip is an opportunity to discover the secrets of Southern Patagonia, combining on-board comfort with an authentic expedition to the end of the world.

Itinerary

DAY 1 – Check-in in Ushuaia

• Between 10:00 and 5:00 p.m.: check-in at the Tolkeyen Patagonia Turismo office (Av. San Martín 409, Ushuaia).

• Boarding at 6:00 p.m.

• Welcome toast and presentation of the Captain and crew.

• Set sail for the far south, sailing through the Beagle Channel and the Strait of Magellan.

DAY 2 – Cape Horn and Wulaia Bay

• Sailing through the Murray Channel and Nassau Bay to the Cape Horn National Park.

• Disembarkation (weather permitting) to tour this emblematic place.

• In the afternoon: disembarkation at Wulaia Bay, an ancient Yámana settlement. Hike to a viewpoint through the Magellanic forest.

DAY 3 – Pía Glacier and Porter Glacier

• Morning: disembarkation at thePía Fjord and hike to the viewpoint to observe the glacier.

• Afternoon: excursion on Zodiacs to the Porter Glacier, without disembarkation.

DAY 4 – Águila Glacier and Condor Glacier

• Navigation through Cockburn Channel towards theSeno de Agostini.

• Walk around the lagoon formed by theÁguila Glacieruntil reaching the glacier.

• In the afternoon: navigation in theZodiacs to appreciate the Condor Glacier.

DAY 5 – Magdalena Island and Punta Arenas*

• Early landing on Magdalena Island to walk to the lighthouse and see the penguin colony.
  (In September and April it is replaced by Marta Island, sighting sea lions in Zodiacs).

• Arrival at Punta Arenas at 12:30 hrs. Free time in the city.

• Boarding at 6:00 p.m., toast and new departure to the south.

DAY 6 – Ainsworth Bay and Tuckers Islets

• Arrival a Ainsworth Bay (Marinelli Glacier). Hike through the subantarctic Magellanic forest.

• Visit toTuckers Islets to see Magellanic penguins and cormorants from Zodiacs.
  (In September and April, replaced by a walk near Brookes Glacier).

DAY 7 – Pía Glacier and Glacier Avenue

• New visit to thePía Fjord and walk to the viewpoint.

• Continuation of the navigation in front of the imposingGlacier Avenue (panoramic view from the boat).

DAY 8 – Cape Horn and Wulaia Bay

• Second opportunity to disembark at theCape Horn National Park (weather permitting).

• In the afternoon: new excursions in Wulaia Bay (they vary with each visit).

DAY 9 – Ushuaia

• Early arrival at Ushuaia (08:30 hrs).

• Final disembarkation.
