Itinerary

Day 1 – Boarding in Ushuaia and sailing through the Beagle Channel

The expedition begins in Ushuaia, Argentina's southernmost city. In the afternoon, you'll board the cruise ship and begin sailing through the Beagle Channel, surrounded by mountains and the landscapes of Tierra del Fuego, as the ship heads south.

Days 2 and 3 – Crossing the Drake Passage

Over the next two days, you'll cross the Drake Passage, one of the most iconic sea routes for polar expeditions. As you journey toward Antarctica, you may spot seabirds such as albatrosses and petrels. Crossing the Antarctic Convergence, you'll experience the transition to an ecosystem characterized by its cold waters and extraordinary biodiversity.

Days 4 to 10 – Exploration of the Antarctic Peninsula and crossing of the Arctic Circle

For several days you will explore different sectors of the Antarctic Peninsula and its islands, with possible Zodiac excursions, landings and walks through landscapes covered in ice and snow.

Among the places that could be part of the expedition are:

  • Livingston Island: colonies of gentoo and chinstrap penguins, as well as seabirds and elephant seals.
  • Deception Island: a volcanic island with a natural harbor, remnants of an old whaling station, and abundant wildlife.
  • Cuverville Island: home to a major colony of gentoo penguins.
  • Puerto Neko: imposing glaciers, mountains and possible landings on the Antarctic continent.
  • Paradise Bay: ice-covered waters and opportunities to observe humpback and minke whales.
  • Pléneau and Petermann Islands: polar landscapes, Adélie penguins and seabirds, depending on sailing conditions.
  • Crystal Strait: sailing south through ice-rich waters, with the goal of crossing the Antarctic Circle.
  • Detaille Island: snowy mountains and a former British scientific station.
  • Fish Islands: colonies of Adélie penguins and blue-eyed Antarctic cormorants.
  • Melchior Islands: landscapes of icebergs and opportunities to observe seals and whales, as well as optional activities such as kayaking and diving, subject to availability.

The places visited and the activities undertaken will depend on weather conditions, ice, wildlife, and the decisions of the expedition leader.

Days 11 and 12 – Return via the Drake Passage

Snowy peaks, quiet coves, and easy shore adventures shaped our perfect weekend cruise escape

We loved how much scenery fit into one weekend. From the deck, snowy peaks gave way to quiet coves, and we even spotted dolphins near the second morning’s crossing. The included shore trips were well organized: a short forest walk and a small-town landing with time for coffee by the pier. Relaxed, beautiful, and genuinely fun.
