About this tour

We leave the city of San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca at around 7:30 in the morning. Our route takes us along National Route 38, passing the old train stations of Miraflores, Huillapima and Chumbicha.

We continue our journey and enter the Quebrada de la Cébila. Our next stop is Aimogasta, in the province of La Rioja. This mountainous town welcomes us with its natural beauty, its vineyards and vast olive plantations. Just 4 kilometers from there, in Arauco, we find the 400-year-old olive tree, witness to the origin of Argentine olive growing.

We leave Cerro Negro behind and arrive at London, a historic town that was the first city in Catamarca. This place, with nearly 400 years of history, transports us to times gone by. From there, we head to the El Shincal Ruins, an important archaeological site that holds mysteries yet to be revealed. A guide will explain the relevance of this great reservoir of our aboriginal heritage.

Our journey continues to Belén, a picturesque town famous for its excellent quality crafts, especially llama and vicuña fabrics. We will visit the houses of the weavers to observe how these garments are made on rustic indigenous looms. We will take a break to enjoy lunch (not included).

After this break, we will explore the Quebrada de Belén, where nature has favored man with streams and willow groves. The water courses contrast with the stones of incredible colors, creating a beautiful landscape.

We follow the route of the sun and arrive at the Puerta de San José, a small and picturesque town with an ideal microclimate to free the spirit and enjoy the warm summer days. 

When the evening falls, the first stars tell us that it is time to return, after having enjoyed a day full of unforgettable experiences.
