The Malecón del Río is today one of the most vibrant and photogenic urban spaces in Barranquilla and the Colombian Caribbean. On this guided walking tour, you'll explore its most emblematic areas, while discovering how the city has reconciled with the Magdalena River through public art, contemporary architecture, and new cultural spaces.
During the tour you will discover iconic sculptures, viewpoints and key points of the Malecón, listening to local stories and anecdotes that explain the transformation of the environment. The experience will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Puerta de Oro – Event Center, one of the main entrances to the Malecón del Río. From this point, you will begin a guided walk through a space that is now part of daily life in Barranquilla. Within a few minutes of starting, you will notice how the route opens up amidst green areas, wide paths, and direct views of the Magdalena River. The guide will tell you how this place, which for years turned its back on the river, was transformed into a meeting point for walking, exercising, and enjoying the afternoon by the river. During the walk, you'll pass by some of the Malecón's most recognizable icons. You'll see the Shakira monument up close—one of the most photographed spots on the tour—and learn why it became a symbol of the city. Further along the route you'll find the Junior's Fin, an essential reference point for understanding the football passion of Barranquilla's residents, and the River Caiman, a sculpture that connects with the fauna of the Magdalena River and the region's cultural imagery.

La balade au coucher du soleil le long de la rivière Magdalena à Barranquilla a été un vrai régal. La vue des couleurs changeantes du ciel était magique. Notre guide était super sympa et connaissait plein de détails intéressants sur l'histoire et la culture locale. On a eu l'occasion de goûter quelques spécialités locales pendant la promenade.
