The best time to visit San Gil is during the dry season, which runs from December to February and from June to August. To get to San Gil from Bogotá, there are several transportation options. You can choose to travel by bus, which takes around 6 to 7 hours and there are several companies that offer this service from the Bogotá Transport Terminal. Another option is to fly to Palonegro International Airport in Bucaramanga and then take a bus or taxi to San Gil, which is approximately 2 and a half hours away. Traveling by car is also an option, following the National Route 45A highway.

San Gil is generally a safe place for tourists, but it is important to follow certain safety recommendations. Always keep your personal belongings in a safe place and avoid displaying valuables in public. When doing adventure sports, be sure to hire certified companies and guides. If you’re thinking about booking the Night Tour to Barichara, just do it! This Tangol experience is legit. The town lights up at night and feels totally magical.
