Sustainability Policy

The company is committed to a sustainable approach both in our offices and in the way we relate to operators at our destinations. The purpose of this policy is to consolidate the sustained growth of internal sustainable practices and to contribute to the economic growth of the destinations that embrace this perspective. A strong commitment from Tangol's employees to these objectives and this policy, together with deeper ties with destination operators, is how this will be achieved. This policy applies directly to all our staff and operations, and its implementation is the responsibility of our own staff.

Tangol's management is fully committed to the company's sustainability results and supports the company's sustainability mission statement and policy. We use the Travelife platform to report on our sustainability progress and to monitor and evaluate our advances. We are committed to publicly communicating our sustainability results, through the Travelife report, every two years.

Tangol is committed to the continuous improvement of its sustainability practices, including ongoing monitoring and evaluation of our sustainability policy, with dedicated staff and resources to reach our goals. Tangol complies with all local, regional, national and international regulations relating to human resources, human rights, children's rights, land rights, environmental management, wildlife and land use. We follow a strict Code of Ethics, which includes a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, bribery, forced labor and discrimination.

We recognize that our employees are our greatest asset in delivering meaningful travel experiences to our clients. For this reason, we maintain a clear human resources policy to ensure:

  • Legal compliance in every respect
  • A safe, healthy and welcoming workplace
  • Fair contractual conditions, including fair pay
  • Training opportunities on sustainability, sexual harassment and exploitation in the workplace and in the industry
  • Involvement of the sustainability team in activity planning
  • Inclusion and equal opportunities for all employees, especially regarding pay, promotion, benefits distribution and professional development opportunities

Office environmental management:

  • Comply with all local and national environmental regulations
  • Purchase office supplies that are local, seasonal, fair trade, bulk, with limited packaging and sustainability-certified whenever possible
  • Print only when necessary and, when doing so, prioritize double-sided, grayscale printing. Paper must always be FSC-certified or equivalent
  • Implement energy-saving measures in all common areas
  • Use energy-efficient equipment and lighting, ensuring it is switched off, unplugged or set to standby when not in use
  • Post water-saving recommendations in all common areas and restrooms
  • Separate waste into the following categories:
    • Recyclable: plastic, paper products, some metals, glass
    • Waste: materials that currently have no recovery pathway
    • The City of Buenos Aires Government handles its proper disposal

Office carbon management: Tangol is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by using energy-efficient equipment and appliances.

Land use: Tangol's office is located in an urban area and complies with all local land-use laws, respects local cultural and natural resources in our business operations, and favors sustainable architecture and design.

  • Tangol is committed to sourcing its products and services responsibly, avoiding harmful impacts on society, culture and nature wherever possible. We expect the same level of commitment from our suppliers.
  • Tangol prefers to work with destination suppliers that use local and seasonal products and services, benefiting the local community through fair local hiring and offering fair working conditions.
  • Tangol is committed to raising its suppliers' awareness so they adopt strong social and environmental practices.
  • Tangol expects partner operators to comply with current Argentine regulations and the conditions of our quality policy.

Throughout the development and operation of our travel packages, Tangol expects partner agencies to act in the best interests of the surrounding communities and environment, as well as of our guests.

Tangol works with accommodations committed to complying with the standards of our Quality Policy.

  • Tangol works with suppliers committed to complying with the standards of our Quality Policy.
  • All excursions and activities organized by or on behalf of Tangol respect local customs, traditions, cultural integrity and natural resources.
  • Tangol is committed to not offering any excursion that harms people, wildlife, the environment or natural resources such as water and energy.
  • Tangol gives preference to excursions and activities that benefit local communities, respect animal welfare and support environmental protection.
  • Tangol has clear guidelines and codes of conduct for environmentally and culturally sensitive excursions, which are actively communicated to clients and enforced by suppliers and guides.

  • Tangol is committed to hiring qualified local guides, drivers and other local staff, paying them fair wages and providing safe, fair working conditions. We expect the same from our suppliers who hire local staff on Tangol's behalf.
  • Tangol understands that guides are the link between guests and the socio-cultural and environmental context of the destination, and therefore ensures that all guides hired or leading excursions on its behalf receive regular training and are knowledgeable about the destination's sustainability issues.

  • Tangol aims to send visitors to secondary or lesser-known tourist areas to avoid over-tourism and contribute to the economic development of other regions.

Tangol is committed to contributing positively to the destinations where we operate, through:

  • Local, responsible sourcing, and support for local and traditional arts and culture:
    • Encourage visitors to shop responsibly and inform them about illegal or prohibited souvenirs
    • Respect and uphold all human rights, including children's, women's and labor rights, as well as land rights

Tangol is committed to respecting the environment at the destinations where it operates:

  • Keep natural resources intact
  • Educate guests on the principles of responsible travel and appropriate visitor behavior

All staff are responsible for embracing and taking ownership of this policy. They are also responsible for promoting and implementing this sustainability policy within their departments.
