An outdoor exhibition of artists, everyday from 10AM to 6PM. The famous tango goes “Caminito que el tiempo ha borrado, que juntos un día nos viste pasar, he venido por última vez, he venido a contarte mi mal.” Ohh, it is because this is a magic street: among colorful, tin houses we see couples tangoing, artists portraying passersby, and some melancholic people playing the bandoneon. A good place to buy souvenirs.

This small square was known as the “Square of Sighs”, because it was the place where the Genoese would gather to remember their faraway homeland.

The painter Benito Quinquela Martín is the most important artist of the so called “School of La Boca.” In his work, he portrayed the color and lifestyle of the neighborhood and its first inhabitants. On the 3rd floor, lies his studio, where he lived until 1974. The museum also showcases a collection of figureheads, most of which were painted in La Boca.

31 OLD TRANSPORTER BRIDGE

This iron structure, that spans the Riachuelo, is also known as “Old Bridge” or “Nicolás Avellaneda Bridge”. Built in 1908, this transporter bridge was the first to link Buenos Aires City with the outskirts. Today the bridge is not used, but it is still possible to see rowers connecting both banks with their boats, mostly carrying workers.

In 2011, the National Museum of Fine Arts rearranged the museographic design of its permanent collection. This curatorial script change was aimed at placing the Argentinean art of the 19th century next to the European art of the same period.
