IRUYA tourist information

Iruya is a town in the province of Salta located at 2780 meters above sea level, on the eastern slopes of the Sierra de Santa Victoria, 307 km from the capital of Salta. It is within the perimeter of the Yungas Biosphere Reserve.
Its colonial building stands out with narrow alleys and its landscapes with imposing panoramic views

Here, the inhabitants, clothing, customs and houses have maintained their tradition for 250 years. The town preserves its narrow and cobbled streets, with adobe, stone and straw houses.

Following the bed of the rivers that cross the interior, streams of different shapes and colors can be seen. The flagstone in some sections has formed retaining walls of the river.

On February 18, 1995 the town of Iruya was declared a National Historic Site.
