Highlights of Walking Tour

The Walking Tour of Buenos Aires is the best way to get to know the city.

Our tour is done on foot and traveling by public transport.

The idea is to know, in a sustainable way and without losing sight of the daily reality of the people of Buenos Aires, the most beautiful and interesting corners.

We go out with small groups, of a maximum of 8 people, prioritizing the quality of the excursion.

You will live an experience of unique and real contact with our beloved metropolis exhaustively visiting the Center and its Town Historic, San Telmo, La Boca and Recoleta.

Along the tour you will taste typical foods such as empanadas, have a coffee in the colorful Caminito and, for those who took the option, finish the tour in a spectacular bar and viewpoint with views of the square congress and the most attractive avenues of the city.

Walking excursion ideal for taking photos and exploring areas outside the massive tourist circuit of Buenos Aires.

Details of Day Tours

The walking tour begins at our office in San Telmo. This is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires and has a vibrant tango and arts scene. Its antique markets, street lighting (known as "lanterns"), cobblestones, original old buildings and decoration, add to the unique bohemian atmosphere of the place. Sundays are the busiest days as the street market comes to life around Plaza Dorrego.

We will enter the San Telmo market, a building inaugurated in 1897 to supply the great wave of immigrants who arrived in that moment.

Currently, it is still You can find some stores selling meat, vegetables and other groceries, although most of the stores offer local cuisine and specialties from around the world. Here we will taste some delicious empanadas.

We will continue our way along Defensa Street, in the heart of the San Telmo neighborhood, until we reach the square

We will take a bus to get to the La Boca neighborhood, known for the team`s stadium Boca Juniors and along the colorful Caminito Street. We will be enchanted by the street tango dancing and singing performances and we will learn how tango, soccer and different immigration influences have made Buenos Aires one of the most irresistible cities in the world. Here we will take a break while enjoying a coffee and a snack.

On board another bus we will enjoy the views of the modern skyscrapers of Puerto Madero until we reach the Plaza de Mayo, the main square of Buenos Aires and the political heart of Argentina. We will visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and observe the Cabildo, the colonial City Hall, and the Casa Rosada, the seat of the executive power.

After walking through the square, we will go to the Obelisk, symbol of Buenos Aires. Be part of this incredible metropolis, going through the real experience of the daily life of an Argentine citizen and walking along the lively Avenida 9 de Julio, the widest avenue in the world. Historical buildings, monuments and streets will show the changes that the city has undergone since its founding.

On board the subway, we will arrive at the Recoleta neighborhood where we will find beautiful architecture, a large number of museums, elegant cafes and restaurants, exclusive avenues and shopping centers.

We will tour the impressive Cemetery of the Recoleta, resting place of a large part of the country`s aristocratic families and recognized figures in history such as Eva Duarte Perón. The tour ends for those who have selected the walking tour only option.

For passengers who chose the continue the activity and enjoy an aperitif, we will board a bus to reach the Montserrat neighborhood and visit El Palacio Barolo, a building inaugurated in 1923 and declared a National Historical Monument, which has an architecture with rigorous symbolism that includes numerous analogies and references to the Divine Comedy, by the poet Dante Alighieri.

On Wednesdays, the tour ends with a visit to a beautiful viewpoint at the top of the Barolo Palace, where we can observe Congress Plaza, Avenida de Mayo and its surroundings from above. Here we can relax in the bar located on the rooftop, having a drink of our choice (the rest of the days it is not included)

Fantastic walking tour in Buenos Aires

We did a one day walking tour through Tangol San Telmo which was perfect introduction to the city. The tour was a mix of walking, subway and public bus. Our guide was lovely, spoke beautiful English and had huge knowledge of Argentinian history and current affairs. As a qualified architect, she was able to provide great information about the buildings and monuments we visited. It was more like wandering the town with an intelligent friend than taking a tour. This tour would be perfect if you only have a short time in the city or as an intro to orient yourself. Couldn't recommend this tour highly enough. Staff in the San Telmo Tangol office are also very friendly and extra helpful.
